Was giving the prado (2018 VX) a general going over and noticed the rubber pipe beside the AUX battery was wearing against the edge of the battery tray despite a 8-10mm gap…the tray is fixed solid but guess there’s a fair bit of movement inside the engine bay. Probably did most of this doing the GIBB river road.

whats the name of the pipe? It looks like it goes to the front radiator

Radiator hose. Change it asap before it blows. Like now!

I had a look at my 2016 GX. It appears to be the intercooler hose, between the Turbocharger and the intercooler radiator. The intercooler is made of aluminium and fits in front of the normal coolant radiator. The other 'end' of the intercooler connects via another hose to the throttle body, on the passenger side of (Australian) RHD Prados.

I imagine you will feel a substantial drop in performance if it develops a leak!

That battery tray is too long or mounted too close to the hose. My ARB tray is 30mm+ clear of that hose.
Get one that is the correct size for the 150.

Wrong tray or fitted too far Engine side. Re-fit or replace with a better tray.

I carry Silicone Tape to do track-side repairs on intercooler and engine cooler hoses. It sticks to itself and works at high temperatures. Duct Tape over the top if needed.

That was supposed to be the correct tray as the last picture indicates . It’s fitted correctly, there’s no space to allow it to move further away from the pipe Niven it bolts to the inner Wall of the right wheel arch. Regardless it’s now been modified to provide better clearance .

I'd be putting a piece of U-shaped rubber edging on that tray. Clark Rubber is a good place to look.

Yeah good idea I’ve got some punch weld somewhere..

Btw the replace intercooler hose from Toyota $187… yet radiator hose is $32… lesson learned

Apologies being a bit late to this. The ARB battery tray is for 10" batteries like the factory one on the other side while the Projecta tray is for the larger 12" batteries. That makes the Projecta tray a bit tight. I fitted the Projecta tray a while ago and finally checked that hose; mine looks good with adequate, albeit not a lot of space; so far after many tracks there is no sign of damage on my hose. But I did remove some of the fitting bits as I reckoned the supplied battery has no mounted tray, just a plastic base and relies on the 2 long battery holder bolts & nuts. The top support mount across the battery is very useful as it attaches to a cross member to better brace the battery. Gerry
