  • Wiper blades - like Bosch

    Item Name: Wiper Blades
Item Description: Similar to Bosch for Prado 120. $29 + $7.99 shipping
    Link: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/320756910479#ht_1611wt_1398

I was following the Bosch wiper thread so I went to Bursons to get the ones recommended. But the sales guy totally put me off not really wanting to go out the back to bring the 2 Bosch types out for me to see (there's a budget model ECO and the Aerotwin). He only had the driver's side in the Aerotwin but brought out both sides from the budget model when I told him I wanted to compare what the 2 types were like.

Anyway, I had already been watching the above ebay link and I bought Bosch knockoffs from ebay about 3 years ago and they have been working fine until about 6 months ago when they would chatter across the windscreen. So I thought I'd give these a go seeing as they are half the price of the Bosch.

Fitted them yesterday and they worked perfectly without noise on a dry windscreen. Today, there was a very light and fine droplets on the windscreen and I flicked the wipers on. It cleaned the windscreen beautifully without leaving anything behind. I guess everyone would expect new wipers to work very well the first time, so time will tell if these will last me another 3 years.

Oh and the sizes in the package for the 120 was 550mm (driver) and 525mm (passenger). Slightly better coverage for the passenger side. The ones previously on the passenger side was 500mm long.

Someone recommended these a while back (might have been you Andrew?) - just ordered a set. I barely got back from the payment page when they had already left positive feedback for me - not often you see that.

I linked to it in the other thread but got no response so took the plunge and tried them out.
The service from the ebay seller is pretty good. The wipers come from Melbourne and turned up in a day or 2.

No, it was before that so must have been someone else. Add another day or two for us out in the Wild West

I agree the seller seems to be pretty good, they are already marked as posted.

Found another Bosch knockoff but this time at $20 delivered.

Might order some more at that price to stock up.

The 120 needs 21" and 22" wiper blades.

I ordered a set of the ones amts mentioned, and received them a week or so ago. They are pretty cheaply made (but cheap in price too), but so far I'm happy enough.

The locking mechanism that keeps it from sliding of the loop seems a bit flimsy, but hasn't come off yet, and we have plenty of rain the past week. Another issue is they don't seem to have enough 'spring/curve'. The last 15mm on each end of the wiper don't really have enough pressure against the glass to work properly. This means the area the wiper is working on is less that it otherwise should be.

Neither of these criticisms make me want to ditch them or regret my purchase. I will be sticking with 'Bosch-like' design, but I think when these wear out I will get a set of the genuine article.

I got the ebay ones last time, nearly 2 years ago and they are chattering across the windscreen. Will now try the street tuned version.

The size needed for the 120 is 20" and 21".
