They sell them on ebay
Cant find the link i seen yesterday, but the guy selling them highlighted that they were getting a lot of returns because people were using them the wrong way and they were snapping in half.

Dont think they would be as half as strong as a maxtrax

Obviously those are not Maxtrax - there are plenty of cheaper options like a 200x50mmx2.4mt treated pine sleeper cut in half, available at Bunnings for around $8.99.
Today I spoke with mr MAXTRAX himself, once again MAXTRAX are supporting the Prado point gtg - 2014 PP GTG VIC HIGH COUNTRY.
Perhaps as they are a consistent sponsor you could seriously look at the best product for sand recoveries - .MAXTRAX

its like anything chinese really, you still get what you pay for, all the maxtrax etc give you 2 or 3 year warranties, so they will last that long normally. but the chinese ones will only last half as long... meh, if you want throw away disposable, then buy 4 instead lolMaroochydore, Sunshine Coast, Queensland

When I'm in a situation to use recovery gear, such as my MaxTrax, I don't want to be worrying if they are going to snap in half.Originally posted by Graz View PostThey sell them on ebay

To be fair, MaxTrax are made in Australia too!Aussie made product!!
The choice between Treds and Maxtrax probably comes down to personal preference. I think the important choice is to buy Australian. Our manufacturing sector needs all the support it can get at the moment.

Just wondering why MaxTrax aren't taking any legal action to protect their product??
So many dubious copies are now out there. One shop in Perth is now selling "More Trax", surely that is an impingement on the MaxTrax brand??
I realise these copies are cheaper, but my MaxTrax have been outstanding, so good I don't see the need for a winch given the terrain I do. And yet it seems even the 4x4 shops are failing to support the originals and accept cheap copies???
I know it's attractive to go for a cheaper item that appears to do the same thing, but we're only destroying our local technology and manufacturing. Though maybe MaxTrax have licensed the design?
