On recent trip to Abu Dhabi we booked a desert safari trip. The cars were a 150 series with no lift and grandtreks and a 200 with sand tyres at 12 psi both with roll cages and what felt like auto lockers.
These guys drove like crazy at speed turning sharp 180 degrees just before the top of each dune, down then up the next. Was like being in a tugboat in a storm. I was even starting to get seasick! I’ll never look at Stockton the same again.
Eventually the 150 rolled a tyre off the rim trying to keep up with us in the sand tyred 200. They had no recovery gear to speak of and after using the bottle jack just dug a hole under the stuffed wheel to change it.
After dinner in Bedouin camp (full of Aussies) they took us back in different vehicles as the 200 got a puncture. I’d recommend it if you're over that way.
Cheers
Jim
