Any wonder when people put bull bars like this on a 4WD and politicians and others want to ban all bull bars?

That bar would do a Kenworth 18 wheeler justice, are we sure that is not a Photoshop adjusted image?

Is that bar legal? It certainly shouldn't be!

I saw one of these on a Prado in Toowoomba today. It didn’t look as bad as the one in the first post. It is still ugly.

These are the bars that sparked the whole "ban the bull bar" wagon. They are used out west by the cow cockies, but unfortunately some city folk (the urban cowboys) think they look great and put them on all sorts of vehicles. NOT ONE of these bars are ADR approved.
It also reminds me of the people in utes that have the big aerials on them. You know, the ones that make their ute look like a fishing trawler.

Just down at the local footy club in suburban Brisbane and there was a 120 Prado set up as a mine vehicle, the Tuff bar, the lights, 4 aerials even the yellow caps on the wheel nuts. Not a mark on it, never been on gravel, is signed up by a Workplace and Safety training company. If the bars aren't compliant alomg with the massive side steps what does this tell you about their company. Didn't have a camera but it was an absolute shocker.

                    Regards, Richo.

Interestingly I was at a 4wd club committee meeting last night and our club recieved a letter from the state government throught the 4wd association. Amongst other things it stated that there are currently no Australian design rules that apply to frontal protection systems (bullbars) and that they were looking at drawing up regulations that would ban the fitting of "aggressive" bullbars, I hope this means 5 posters and not all steel bullbars and even alloy bullbars.

Anyway the point is, like it or not if it is airbag compliant the 5 poster alloy bullbar pictured is probably legal.

Thats interesting, I have been told by a Transport Inspector here in QLD, that any bullbar that has the rake sloping towards the front on any vehicle built after 1995 is illegal, so basically here in QLD the bullbar must lean back towards the vehicle.
