Haven't herd anything about that one, but i have a mate with one of these and he raves about it!
i am still tossing up (code for saving) between buying a used waeco/engle or a new one of these(leaning towards one of these)

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or experience with one of these??

Should I be the guinea pig or am I wasting my money?
By all means be the guinea pig Noobie!. I "doubt" that you will be wasting your money. These jobbies (and others) typically are made in the same factories and are typically rebadged to suit, using the same components as the big name brands. I have just purchased 9" DVD headrests that RRP here in OZ for $800 and have purchased the identical item barr the brand name screen printing and glossy packaged box for half the price!
What you will most likely miss out on should anything go wrong with the product, will be the support network that is afforded with the big name brands. However, if these items do genuinely have the same componentry, (danfoss pumps etc...) then you should be able to get the item serviced by the big name brands service repair agents.
I think if I was in the market for a fridge I too would be seriously looking at this product.

Hey Noobie, it does look like a good buy and let us all know if you get it and what it's like. I agree with Craig's comments and will be in the market for a fridge in the next 12 months.

Check out the cheap fridges thread already on here... There are a couple more options which are slightly more expensive... I also noticed that IRONMAN are now retailing a fridge that looks pretty close to this one...

Bought one of the IRONMAN fridges yesterday. After talking to the Director of Ironman, Adam (Top bloke).... Got it for a steal! The guys went out of their way for us today and extended the 12V power cable (only gripe I have thusfar as it's pretty short) in their workshop in Kewdale for free... These fridges have only just been released as far as I understand, at this weekends show... Brand new to the market.. Carry the same warranty as the WAECO equivalent and use the same pump... Adam designed the fridge himself and has been testing them for the last two years... Gave me his personal business card and said to call if there were any issues at all..

This is right in most cases, but this time it is not, Waeco do not make fridges for anyone else, you will find that these ones are cheap Chinese copies using older technology, they may have sold the old technology to them, and now Waeco are using a new (better) technology, that uses less power and cools better. I'm not saying that these Chinese fridges are a bad thing, they will do the job just fine, but as always, you are making a compromise buying these cheaper fridges.

I agree with you Crooza. It most likely is the old technology and is'nt as efficient as the big names latest products. this unit is running some good kit i.e. German made Danfoss compressor (we assume it's genuine) But as you've said also, they will (hopefully) do the job just fine albeit a compromise by buying a cheaper unit. The seller of this product offers a 12 month Full warranty, together with a 7 day money back guarantee if the product is not satisfactory. You have to admit, $480 for a 50l fridge is mighty inviting for those who struggle to pay$1k or more for a same size fridge. I look forward to a report from Noobie once it arrives...

At the end of the day, even with "old Technology" 12 months warrenty and money back they seem like a good deal.

Ive got a few old 29L engel, now you cant get older technology than them @ 25 years old. The fridge I built for my camper trailer, out of a camper bus fridge uses a older danfoss system and that works well, again old technology. The danfoss design in itself is the same as they were 10 years ago and usually its the extras built into the fridge by the various manufacturers , control panels, led lights, ETC , that fail before a danfoss compressor will.

I reckon if I was in the market for a new fridge I would give it a go. $500 wont even buy a 4 year old engel, with no warrenty. If the electronics does fail eventually, just do as I did and replace it with a engel mechanical thermostat and it should last for years.

It's not 12 months money back though, just incase you've read it wrong or if I've misinterperated what you've written.
I agree that old tech stuff is not a bad thing, it is just that people should know that it is old tech stuff, so that they can ballance that, with the price they pay, and with what they can expect with how the product performs.
