Just thought of another thing, there isn't much text on the index page that a web search might pick up. Maybe it's worth adding a quick description so users can find us via Google and the like. That's the first place I looked when I was after a "Toyota Prado Forum"

    Cheers,

    Drew.

I'm looking into the gallery options now. I should have something sorted in the next day or so.

Drew - yes the search engines may find it a bit difficult to find the site initially. Online marketing, website usability and optimisation are all core services my business provides to small/medium companies.

As time goes on I'll be investing some energy in these areas. If anyone has their own website, one of the best things for Prado Point would be to link your site to Prado Point.

Embi - I'll get those forums renamed shortly Good pick up. Thanks.

        Hi again Aaron,

Does phpBB have the option to spell check when submitting posts? This might be a useful option if it can be enabled.

        Cheers,

        Drew.

No. I think you can get a javascript mod that does.

            Searching forums for specific text

            Aaron,
Looks like ur on a winner here, however I was wondering if it would be possible to find a specific item by doing a text search.
It is not a big problem currently but when this forum takes off (I know it will) and we have heaps of data to search through, particularly old posts that I know someone sometime said something that (surprise, Surprise!!!!) i now need to know, how can it be found more easily.

Thanks again for a great resource.

              I must be an idiot

              Aaron,

Please ignore my previous post as I have just had Knee surgery (6 hours ago ) and I must still be feeling the affects of the drugs.

I should have looked harder. ops: ops:

                  Site banner

                  Aaron,

I just wanted to say how much I like the Pradopoint.com banner at the top of the page. The more I see it the more I like it. Well done. Are you a photography buff or is this just a lucky shot?

                  Keep up the great work,

                  Drew.

                    Timestamp

Just noticed that the timestamp appears to be incorrect. I have my time zone set to L (Z+10) but it's about 0.5 hour later on the post stamp. Maybe the server time is out?

                    FWIW,

                    Drew.

OK, I think there is need to be a spot for uploading pdf and doc documents for tech articles, etc.... with about 100MB total limit....

Use PM. else set one up in parachat.
online chat loose interest after the novelty wears out.
                          Thanks Wengnuts.

I just thought I would chuck in what appeared elsewhere last night.

I like the PM facility, and quite like the chat in amongst the posts. It lends more of a 'community' feel to the place ... and there's always the scroll bar if you want to get to the meaty bits

                          Cheers

I have a Fuel Consumption Spreadsheet which gives various bits of info and it would be handy if a section was available for me to upload it for downloading by any member interested.

Another would be Trip Notes for ready reference.

I think we all need to be mindful of the fact that pradopoint.com is free - so requests for space to upload data might be a bit hard to implement given some of the potential costs involved.

Most internet accounts include a bit of server space to upload stuff to.

yeah, i like the idea of just having an area that people can post images linked to other locations like photobucket, only issue with them is they tend to have a time restriction so searching through old posts tends to show a lot of dead links! that said iæve got a crapload of hosting space so itæs not so much of an issue for me having pictures...

Iæm happy to assist anyone that wants some where to store images or files that are for the greater good of all!
