Hi PP,
I've just purchased my 97' Prado Grande and live in Ipswich, QLD and work in Brissy CBD. It's my first 4wd and could not be happier. The car needs a bit of TLC and a good service.
I was originally looking at a getting a Surf but soon learnt a little about Prados and here i am.
It is kind of the other end of the stick for me, coming from a modified Nissan 180sx, sitting low in buckets, stiff suspension etc. I guess it might be me getting older? Now I no longer fear potholes and speed bumps and just have to take note of low car parks when the roof racks are on!
My plans are to have a reliable almost-go-anywhere car, to go camping and head out on road/fishing trips.
After almost a year since selling the 180sx and not tinkering with anything, the modifying bug has already bit and here I am looking at winches etc!

Hi Guys, I am now the proud owner of a 2008 Black 120 Prado Grande D4D with a stock soverine bar and 150,000kms on the clock. I also own a Nissan Patrol beast with 33" Maxis rubber, lift kit, winch, snorkel, roofrack, light force, etc. etc. So why choose the Prado? OK, my previous car was a Toyota Landcruiser GXV 100 series and my mate rolled it for me. I loved the Toyota because of the great build quality, bullet proof reliability and off road capability. So who did I end up with a Nissan? Well this thing came up and it was all setup and cheap. Half the cost of a Toyota! But after a while I reasearched it and I have been fearful of the ZD30 diesel motor explodeing. Things have been going wrong with the Nissan. Just little niggly things. So as time goes by I have wished to get back into a Toyota. Don't get me wrong, the Nissan never let me down and I have always managed to winch it out from being stuck. But I don't really enjoy driving it. We can't park it underneath car parks and my girlfriend just cant climb into it wearing a dress. So what prompted me to get a car with so many kms, OK, cost and Toyota reliability. I am a little concerned now about injectors, dash and tailgate after reading some of these forums, but hopfully I will not suffer any of these issues. The vehicle was owned by a farmer out in country Victoria and it looks like its all been honest Hyway kms. It does not look beached, crashed or bush bashed YET! lol. Anyway I am happy with it. The girlfrind likes the curtisy light on the vanity mirror and the nice interior. I got it service by Toyota and they said its starting to weap oil around the vacume pump but I got a second opinion and the other mechanic said there is no leak. just some road grime under the vacume pump. First thing I will do is change the tyres, and when I sell the Nissan I will go nuts. The suspension seems a bit soft even on the hardest setting but it might need some new shocks etc.
