G'day all,
Recently traded my Hilux for a new 2013 GXL Prado (white - best colour) during the EOFY sale.
Found some great adrice whilst lurking, now looking forward to starting th build up.
First mod will be the install of a motorolla mototurbo UHF - very "busy" underbody compared to th Lux.

G’day all
Just found this forum a while so thought I’d join up.
Purchased a new Prado last October and thoroughly enjoying driving it.
I am new to Prados and to diesel engines but not new to 4WDing.
My first 4WD was a Mitsubishi L400 4WD Express Van. A brilliant vehicle – plenty of room, easy to fit all the camping stuff. Unfortunately it was let down by the ground clearance (bigger wheels would have been on the improvements list) and small engine. Definitely needed a 2 ½ or 3 litre engine. Still, it took us to the top and back again (with all the diving and camping gear).
This gave us a taste for 4WDing so the next was a Toyota Mid-Wheelbase Landcruiser. We did some serious work in the vehicle (central Oz, Hi country etc) and serious work on the vehicle (it was fully booted and spurred with L/R fuel tanks, aux battery, radios, Recaro seats, lockers, internal mods, suspension mods etc etc etc).
Then disaster – along came -- t h e k I d s.
SWMBO (and I must admit me also) got sick of loading the kids in through the back window (the MWB is a 2 door) so with heavy heart we traded it in on a Pajero. The Paj has served us well with innumerable camping/4WD trips with the kids. Used as second vehicle around town now, and having suffered 2 learner drivers, it is getting a bit long in the tooth now (20yo but with a genuine 180,000km only on the clock).
So now in my dotage along comes the Prado. A 2012 white 150 GXL, auto diesel. Particularly impressed by the fuel consumption. On a recent return trip to Adelaide and back to Melbourne f/c was 8.1 l/100km with a full load plus roof load – and still fuel in the tank.
No mods yet (other than seat covers) but have a number on the “list”
Cheers Greg

Hi there,
I have pretty basic set up, but I'm keen to do much as I can by myself. I have a 2005 120 series GXL. ARB bull bar and a dual battery system, both of which I installed myself.
Wish list - drawers with fridge slide, UHF and snorkel.
We did a big trip from Wollongong to Adelaide and back, over Christmas and got some great camping in. The more I drive my Prado and the more I work on it - the more I love this vehicle.

Thought it time to sign up & say Hi ...
Hi all,
My name's Marcus and I have been 'lurking' here for a while now since we picked up our 150 Series White Kakadu in early March this year.
Had lots of 'all wheel drives' prior the Prado but never a 4wd so a new experience for the family & I.
Cheers to you all for the very passionate debates about bullbars etc, you have well entertained me & I think I have a better idea of what accessories we'll like to fit in the first instance before we get too far off the blacktop.
Thanks also for the numerous photo's you have all posted, its really nice to see what these accessories look like prior to fitting them up (that bit just in case the wife finds my posts ... )
Anyway, I promise to try hard to post in the right area's & on the correct topics but apologies in advance if I get it wrong at some stage.
Cheers.

Hi All,
New to the forum after recently purchasing a 2010 150 Series. I have learn't a good deal so far from reading many of the build threads on the forum and hope to be able to contribute along the way. No mods so far but looking to get a dual battery set up, on board compressor and look towards building some custom drawers in the rear as the Fun Sheriff permits.
Cheers,
Scott
