  • Re: Introductions

I suppose I should introduce myself my name is David been member since buying the prado last year.
    rig in build ups
Have been involved in 4 wheel driving for years and committee member for the on all 4's 4wd club
Picked the 120 series prado as reputation good it was a toss up between patrol but they are not as refined and modern. Will plan to keep modifying prado.
I still want to add f and r lockers, sliders, exhaust, chip, draws, cargo barrier. My passion is 4 wheel driving and also building a zook with 3lt td Toyota motor, 80 series front diff patrol rear, coil overs, 38" tyres so prado makes a good tow vehicle.
...If its not on all 4's it's not on.....
2008 GXL D4D, OME lift, arb bar, IPF 55W HIDs, HID headlights, duel Batteries, Winch, UHF, Safari Snorkel, bfg km2's, arb side awning, rola cage, engel fridge, kaymar rear bar(to fit)

        G'day guys,

This probably should have been my first post, but i only just saw this thread. I've just traded up from an 05 Navara STR. It was a solid little truck but i'm 6'3" and all arms and legs. It wasn't pretty.
Looked at the 200 series but it felt like i was sitting on a sofa. The 150 fit like a glove and drove like i dream. I had to have it. The missus had always wanted a Prado, so there were no arguments from her. We were lucky to have a friend at the dealership who got us $10k off the car plus accessories free.

        Model: VX
        Year: 2010
        Colour: Silver Pearl
Accessories: Genuine Toyota towbar and rubber mats, window tint for front and UV protection for rear windows.
Wishlist: Airbags, roof rack and cargo tray... coming soon i hope. TJM T13 bullbar, air compressor, UHF radio, some decent touring/beach tires, Bilstein 2" lift, winch, flux capacitor.

Unfortunately i may have to wait on most of those wishes. The wife wants a new house. Time to sell another kidney.

Hi All - long time lurker, first time poster.

I've been a Toyota man ever since I had my first car. Corolla, Sprinter (AE-86), MR2 (x3)... as has the old man, with a 95 (Snowy) and 120 Prados.

Then, almost 4 years ago when it was time to get a 4WD for the 'minister of war and finance' - there must have been some kind of brain short-circuit, and we bought a series two LandRover Discovery TD5. Don't get me wrong, this was an absolutely fantastic car, and we love it to bits... BUT... we also hate it. You can only tolerate $2k services every 6 months for so long before something's gotta give.

So the Disco is off to a new home - to be replaced (pick up this week) for the time being with:

Model - GXL - Kimberley Pack
            Year - 2000
            Colour - Green
Accessories - None, booked in to get Hayman Reece towbar and brake controller on Friday
Wishlist - CHEAP SERVICING!! And aside from that, love an ARB/TJM bar, Lovells / Bilstein, and some AT rubber (not sure what flavour yet).

            Cheers
            Dave

Hope it wont be too long before i'm the proud owner of a nice shorty prado.
                              Cheers Pedro

                              • Re: Introductions

This will be my first post on Pradopoint. I've been looking at it for years.

I have a 2004 v6 Prado with lift, BFG AT, Lightforce spots, alloy bar, winch, uhf. It has been from Townsville to Fraser a few times and up inland past cooktown, out west to Mt Isa heaps and I have been surprised how strong they are - quite a few airborne moments and stuff i thought would leave me stranded. 160,000kms and going strong.
UNFORTUNATELY my ex wife is driving it and I'm driving my 2003 Hilux Sr5, which has had a tough life - including being rolled. She won't drive the Hilux anymore and somehow it's my job to find her another car (and pay for it) to get my prado back.

Anyway - put an order in for a New Prado 150 Diesel GXL the other week. pick it up from Hervey Bay next week and within hours will be over Fraser Island (have a wedding to go to). Although i hate white cars, i've chosen white becuase I must be getting older and it's practical.

When I pick it up it will have:

                                Tuffdog suspension + lift
                                Airbags rear
                                BFG AT 275
                                Lightforce 240 HID
Headlight HID upgrade on High Beam
                                White ARB Deluxe bar
White fibreglass arial for UHF - GME UHF new small version
                                Winch - ironman
                                Sandgrabba floor mats
                                Rhino roof rack
                                tint
                                hayman reese tow bar
                                dual battery
                                reverse led light
arb aircompressor ready for diff lock if I decide i want one.
                                rear diff breather

maybe a couple of other things to come - i haven't really had a good look at one yet. But the 120 has been great.

from brand new to the barge to Fraser maybe as little as 2 hours - so it will be great fun to see how it goes.

UPDATE: not quite 2 hours, picked it up at 5pm and decided not to get the 6.30pm ferry. went the next day. love it.
150 GXL Diesel (white) 09/10. ARB Deluxe bullbar colour coded, Lightforce 240 (HID), Winch, Tuffdog suspension, Mickey Thomson ATZ, tint, UHF, airbags, compressor, dual batteries,... and more stuff.
