  • Hi All, been lurking around since Jan, bought the new 2014 GXL TD in March and now i'm working as much OT as possible to start ticking things off my wish list.
So far I have CouplerTec heavy duty electronic rust protection system, recovery gear, Rhino sports racks, Max Trax II and am currently waiting for a reply to purchase a set of Traxrax from off PP!

    Next purchases will be;
    Front recovery points
    Airtec snorkel
    Dual battery setup
    Tow bar
    Etc, etc, etc...

Already had it up the beach on several occasions and LOVED it!

Can't wait to load the family up or head off on the odd blokes weekend and see some more of the fabulous country of ours.

Look forward ti chatting with you all soon and perhaps neeting up at some stage for a tour!

    Cheers,

    MH

      • Hi All
I am James, I have just picked up my new Droid a GXL 2014 Prado. I have had STI subaru's in the past and now looking forward to doing some new type of driving instead of racing around a track.

We have lots of plans for this being the following
        tJM roo bar
        Blue narva 225 lights
Ali rack and a light bar
        Snorkel
2nd battery with additional plugs inside the car
        2nd fuel filter
Also I want one of the brackets being sold on this forum for the fuel filter and air compressor.

I have been trolling here for a while and have been doing my research and that's to you all for you knowledge and sharing.

Here are a couple of pictures of the new Droid, yep the plates are R2D2

Thanks for looking and I look forward to seeing some of you around.

            • Hi all,
I will soon be purchasing a friends Prado so thought I would introduce myself and ask one query.
              Model: Prado GLX
              Year: 2008
              Colour: Silver
Accessories: Tow bar, ARB bar, Safari Snorkel,
Wishlist: Dual Battery, Upgraded suspension, new tyres

Will keep searching the form but wondering if anyone has pictures of there setup for 12V/Anderson plug setup with Dual Battery (just how your 12v plugs were mounted in the back). Have seen pics of some mounted to later models with the removable plastic panel but not from the 2008 model. Looking at installing a Redarc 1225 (to support solar panel), Piranha Battery tray, 2 x 12V plugs and 1 x Anderson plug to run fridge in Prado and support camper trailer connection.

Looks like a terrific site and will continue reading and researching.

              Cheers Dave

G'day and welcome. On my 2008 dual batt is in the engine bay on the drivers side, my anderson plug is mounted outside to the left of the towbar. Inside I still have the factory 12v , then on the same side in the drivers side alcove there are 2x12v socket (1xHella, 1xEngle, which is annoying as I don't run an Engle so I'll need to change it at some point). I'll take some pics tonight.

They were fitted by the previous owner.

                  • Ahoy everybody!

I'm Sam - long time lurker/referrer to this site.
First ever car was an automatic '99 Honda Civic. Upgraded to the Prado near the end of 2012 and haven't looked back. She's also my first ever 4WD (literally car #2).

                    Model: 95 Series 3.4L 5spd GXL
                    Year: 1998
                    Colour: Crystal Pearl (aka White)
Km: 254,000 and still going strong

Accessories: TJM T15 Bullbar, Safari snorkel, 16" Dynamic rims w/265/75/16 Cooper STMaxx, GME 3400 w/GME elevated feed antenna (short and long interchangeable), first aid kid, fire extinguisher, Dr. Air compressor, eBay special 55W HID driving lights, 20" LED roof bar, 2x internal rear LED work lights, LED reverse/work light, high flow center exhaust, Tigerz11 Grande 12,000lb winch, 2in Tough Dogg lift, OL Recovery gear, diff breathers, Alpine head unit, factory roof rack.

Wishlist: Rock sliders, side work lights (purchased, not fitted), seat protectors, rear high mount indicators in existing fittings, 2m/70cm radio install w/scanner, rear work table, fridge, eLockers, awning, dash mat, dual battery, reversing camera.

                    How I've set it up?
I use this car for everything. It has to deal with the daily commute through to camping/4wd weekends away. I also use it to cart a drum kit around - rear draws would make that difficult to do with ease.

Future upgrade: Considering a 120 series 1GR or D4D GXL (if I don't get put-off by D4Detonation problems) with reasonable km's, good service history, recently replaced injectors, 6spd manual, steering wheel audio controls, climate control and in either white or gun metal grey). Gonna have to wait for that to pop up, but it'll be a long term car.

                    How does she look? Well...

                            • G'Day - love my new Prado - has anyone got the same dash viewing problem?

                              G'Day Prado Owners

I bought a 2014 GXL Manual Diesel a few months ago....Live North of Perth, WA. Tow a caravan and since I got a Rhino flat roofrack have not needed a trailer as much to cart things around....
I have to say, I love it!! It has been through its paces off road already (plenty of scratches now so can relax about the wife taking it to the shopping centre carpark). It has been bogged on the beach but luckily between mates we have al the recovery gear.....

I have 1 whinge and I am curious if any other 2014 Prado owners have noticed.... With the model upgrade the dash has changed on these so the Interface/Screen for the radio is higher... It is impossible to see it during the day, this is Australia, the sun is always out - I find it really frustrating not being able to see the screen, anyone else?

                              • hi all, I have a 2012 Prado Kakadu, just put some new Dueler D697's. apart from that, haven't put anything else on yet. towbar and ARB bullbar are on the list though along with a camper. looking to take the family out for a trip somewhere soon, possibly Birdsville to start with. Sadly, doesn't seem to be too many places around here (Tieri, Central Qld) to take out for a short spin that isn't too difficult and isnt half a days drive away
