Hi Marto, welcome to PP. I too went from the hilux with all the tricks to a Prado.
Big difference from a 94 lux to a 2007 Prado. We still have the lux although no one wants to drive it anymore. go figure. :lol:
Having driven the Prado would never look back.
The Prado is the best car I have ever driven bar none :!: :!:

Thanks mate! yeah i chug around in a 98 diesel non turbo....it's rather slow. I was sold on the Prado long ago but I have just started a job where my boss has a new D4D and it really is a awesome car!

Now its down to talking with the accountant and working out how to make the car allowence pay for one of these things

HI All,

I have posted a few times since joining the ranks 2 weeks ago, and I finally have my first pic to share. I have a leased 2008 GXL D4D Auto kitted out so far with an ARB winch bar, Warn XD9000 winch, IPF XS lights, snorkel, duel battery, cargo barrier, ARB luggage rack, tow bar, GME TX3440 UHF radio & Cooper ST's.



Down the track I hope to add a storage system & upgrade the suspension. I will take a bit of time to read through all the suspension threads, as my wife will kill me if I change the current ride to anything rougher (she has a bad back), but I still want a bit of a lift, and need to cater for all the additional weight up front, and we have a large van to tow.

Anyway, I look forward to all the great advice I think I will get from you all.

Hi Everyone!
I am new to the world of 4 wheel driving. I also found this website by accident and am glad I did so as it is a valuable resource. I own a stock 06 Prado in black thats fitted with a factory bullbar and towbar. I'm keen to get out there and get dirty and to learn a few things along the way.

hi all.
i have posted a few questions already to you all and thought it about time for introduction...
I have never owned a 4WD as such. This is my first and look forward to learning so much - much from this site.
My last 2 cars were more my 'toys' ie Subaru RS Liberty Turbo, Forester turbo but my growing family needed something bigger... so out with my 'toys' as such.
I have to admit i wasn't keen in buying a 'truck' but am very impressed with my Prado .... beautiful car to drive and power/torque is very impressive - it goes so much better than i thought. by no way is a truck.

2005 VX Petrol, pearl white
toyota sover. bullbar, towbar, sandgrabba mats and not much else - then again am happy with the std VX features, mmm though there is so much available and so much money that i would love to spend on it...
Rod 45 years ,young, today and still learning.

If you don't mind a 2009 delivery ...order a new D4D :lol: :lol:

If you want to get ya bum into a Prado sooner you may want to look at some of the great 2nd hand units around. There's even a few D4D's, with low K's on the clock, starting to turn up in car yards .... buggered if I know why - I certainly couldn't see myself getting rid of one. :shock: :?

Don't give up just yet Chris. There's also some good news stories .... of deals that have fallen through and suddenly a brand newy is on the market ... or particular units with or without your particular options or not in your particular colour .... that pop up fairly regularly.

It may not be immediate .. but why not set your dealer a task and see what he/she can find for you.

Chris , i climbed out of my WRX 4 months ago and into a prado, its a different world , but if you wernt ready for it , you wouldnt be doing it .

I get my suspension upgrade fitted tomorrow , bilsteins and ridepros , im looking forward to the stiffer ride you know what i mean 8)

When you get a suspension upgrade on a prado it always gets stiffer , but not rougher . When you drive one with standard suspension (like mine) then a prado fitted with upgraded suspension its like a different car .

Chris my sub had Ecutek tune , exhaust , bigger turbo, FM intercooler ...ect ect

But its nothing compared to what i have spent on this prado already . over 10K in 4 months .

There is so much money to spend on extras on a 4WD to make them handle better and looks too , its a different world . you will love it !
