    Welcome Pat

    You will love the VX. Ive had mine for 18 months now and this forum has been a fantastic wealth of information when deciding on all the "extras" you will buy.

      G'Day All,

      After wanting a 4WD for the last 19 years since I got my license I have finally managed to get myself a new 2009 Charcoal TD GXL Manual which is due for delivery on or about the 13th of this month, even though I can't have my Sovereign Bullbar until further notice thanks to Toyota putting a temporary block on sales for some unknown and unexplained reason.

      Will be straight on the road with a trip to Port Stephens (of course this will include time on the dunes) on the 1st weekend and a trip up to the snowfields on the 2nd.

          They probably have not had the new Sovereign BB pass the safety criteria yet for the new model Prado due to be released soon.

            Just get an ARB bar. They are cheaper, stronger and offer a much greatly improved approach angle. On top of that they look cool!

              No idea why they have put a stop to the bullbar. The dealer was unable to explain the reason either. Just that it would be fitted once the stop order had been lifted. If I find out in the next few days I will let you all know.

                The reason no sovereign bullbars could be is that they were made by Bocar I beleive they're in administration and my local TJM told me they have gone bust. http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/200 ... iness.html

                So at the moment Toyota has no one to make their bars even for the new model.

                  Ah, so that is the reason the dealer told me to just go and get an ARB or TJM bar when I tried to option it on my new VX. I thought it strange.

                      I am a first time Prado owner having taken delivery of a new Grande last month. I am however not new to 4WD's as this is my fourth after two Hilux's and a 75 series Troop Carrier (owned it for over 10 years). Although the troopie was one hell of a vehicle and extremely capable and reliable it was time to get a more family friendly vehicle. I opted for the Grande as I am more into touring than hard four wheel driving. I look forward to putting the new Prado through its paces and am looking forward to hooking up the camper trailer and heading to Victoria gold prospecting in a couple of months time. The forum has been invaluable when making the decision to buy and I know the Prado pretty well with just what I've read.

                        Hi, all. Jim's the name from Penrith NSW area. Well, just picked up my new TD VX Prado, pearl white, auto, towbar and that's about it. Just deciding on which bullbar and that will do me for now. Great vehicle. Just getting my head around the fuel gauge, showing about third full with 90l showing on the dash. One disappointment though. I'm not so sure I like the polished black wood steering wheel and trim. I thought it was plastic at first and a throwback to the sixties. Hey, if it looks like a duck and feels like a duck...it might as well be one.( The steering wheel, not the car) I'd imagine in the summer with sweaty palms it would be hard to grip. Anyone got one? Does it get too hot to handle parked in the sun? Did you cover it with leather? Anyway, that's my only gripe on this fantastic vehicle. Can't wait to hit the dirt.

                        Jim
                        [SIZE=1]Cheers Jim.

                            Hi All, I prefer to do my Offroading 2wd, but since the wife has just bought a 99 Prado V6, i figured I should join up to find out as much as I can about them. Keen to see how the Prado goes compared to my buggy, but I reckon it shouldnt be too bad. I'll have to get used to a different driving style I'm sure.
                            Here's some pics of my exploits Hopefully soon we'll have some of the Prado to match

Completed application about 2 weeks ago and have been waiting for approval. Thought I would try to login, and WOW, here I am!! Hope I can make some useful contribution to the world of Prado. I look forward to making a contribution in the future.
