      • Peril Intro

Been hanging around since xmas, thought I better intro myself. I just ordered some PP stickers so I guess that means I'm sticking around.

Had two Prados, 90series and my new baby the 120 series D4D. Only owned Toyota 4x4 Deisels and that's not likey to change. Just embarking on the fit-out of the 120 Prado D4D (you have to do this with every new 4x4). I'm shopping for Kings 2" lift and Koni shocks, duel battery system (I fit these myself), replace the standard trailer braking unit (I use the Prodogy), spotties, and already wired the back with 32v two pin (cut a 2" hole in my new interior).

4x4 History (OH what a feeling)

1982 Hilux 2.2L Diesel in Yellow (Engine changed for 2.4 when ejectors expired, power is king, 27mhz callsign 'Yellow Peril')
        1985 4Runner 2L 2.4 Diesel (engine changed for a factory imported 2.4L Turbo after drowning the 2.4L)
1985 Landcruiser 60 Series 3.9L Diesel (rusted away)
1992 4runner 2.8 Motson turbo (went like stink until a bad batch of diesel expired the engine)
2000 Prado GLX 90 Series 1HZ (never cost me a cent, wore it out)
2008 Prado GLX D4D Auto (my first Auto experience)

          • Hi all,

Like a few others on this thread I have been a PP member for a few months now, posted a few comments and got masses of information from the website. Having read some comments yesterday on a thread that the mods have now closed down(!) - and particularly ntp's comments about signing up, not introducing oneself, taking a lot from the site and not giving anything back (which I thought were very valid and pertinent, I might add). So with this in mind, I felt I should introduce myself...!!

We have come over from the 'dark side' having owned a 3.0 TD Patrol for 8 years, and getting into a 150 GXL Prado last April (details and options listed below), and absolutely love it. We have been 4wd club members in Victoria for some 4 years now, been active 4wders and campers for about 10 years in total, and we get out as much as time permits. We have 2 kids that love the outdoors as much as we do (almost!), and subsequently have made travelling this country a lot easier.

Apart from local trips with Club and friends within Victoria (particularly the High Country) we've been to the Flinders several times, the Eyre Peninsula (love South Australia), the 'Red Centre', Innamincka, Cameron Corner, Strzelecki and Oodnadatta Tracks, and plenty in between. I hasten to add we haven't even touched the surface yet, and high on the agenda is Cape Yorke and the Top End - when time permits!!

It would be great to meet fellow PPers, share trips, experiences and info. There is a wealth of knowledge on this Forum and it is obvious there are a ot of people who know what they're talking about. I have found it invaluable and I hope every now and again what I can add will be as useful to other members.

            Cheers

            • Hello everyone!

My name is Matt, Im 33 and live on the central coast of NSW. I like candle lit dinners and long walks on the bea..... oops sorry, wrong site!

We ( as in the wife and I plus 2 boys, 4.5years and 13 months old ) just ordered a white GXL, manual diesel. Im very happy, the wife is estatcic!

We curently drive a fairly decked out Mazda BT50 that has been featured in 4wd action custom utes magazine. Twice :-)

I actually wanted to buy a new Ford Ranger but the best price i could get from Ford was $54,000 on road. They are a nice ute, but I wasnt going to pay that much for a new, un proven ute. On a lazy monday morning while out at breakfast we started discussing car options when a prado drove past. That got us thinking. On the way home we stopped in at toyota :-) after almost 3 hours of negotiating we had placed a deposit. It came in only a few grand more than what the ranger was going to cost. No brainer really.

Ive got a few mods planned, but i dont think ill go as nuts as i did with my ute, its actually turned into a bit of a pig to drive. Im looking forward to having something nice to drive

Thanks for having me, Im looking forward to being involved with the forums

Here is a pic of my BT50

It is no different to why the Nissan drivers asked why I have a Toyota - it is not a case of which vehicle is the best - but which is the best for what you want to do.

In many cases the Patrol is a better vehicle (I will not comment on the Pathfinder ) but was not right for what I wanted, but when looking I found the Nissan Club to be the best club for what I wanted, for many reasons (and with the aging Patrol we are seeing more and more non-Nissan vehicles in the club.

                      Steve.

                      • Scrappy, that's one hell of a tsunami proof roof rack, and a 1996 Prado, mate I didn't think Japan allowed cars of this vintage. Not that that's wrong in any way in a Prados case, just surprised.

                        Very cool

That was my $300 junk yard rack, love that thing, solid deck, loads up nice. Any car is OK here, just that nobody wants them at about 10 years old, not wanted again until they are 30 yrs old...

                              • Hi Guys, I am one of those members that have been registered for a while (Ok quite a while) and have learnt a lot over the time. Haven't said anything because didn't want to sound like a clown. I live in Perth and like getting away in the truck with the family (wife and two kids) to some remote locations. Mainly head north from Perth and loved Murchison Offroad Park mid last year.

This site is awesome for people learning about their trucks and what we can do to them. I have spent many hours scrolling over the pages and filtering with the search function to find what I am looking for.

People on this site are always happy to lend a hand and offer advice. Hopefully I can add something useful one day.
