Hi everyone
Just surfing the web for some ideas on driving light's for my Prado and found this site. All I can say is this place is excellent, the wealth of knowledge and information is great and it is all about Prado's making it even better. I will now be a regular visitor to the site for all the tips and tricks for fitting out my Prado. Maybe even see some of you at one or so of the WA trips

Have: ARB Steel Bull Bar, Uniden hand held UHF with external antenna, GARMIN GPS, flares, bigger wheels and rims, THULE roof racks.

By end of year: Dual batteries with help from here, rear storage with help from here, air compressor with help from here....

Hi all,

I have just registered with this fine Prado Forum. I am quite impressed with the content and information at our finger tips. I have (or will have as of tomorrow) August 2007 GXL D4D manual that I have been waiting for for about 3 months. Over the next 2 weeks I intend to fit the following: BFG A/T 265/70/17, Couplertec ERPS, Piranha/AGM dual Battteries.

Introduction of new member

This is my Prado:

Model: GX8 Diesel
Year: 2006
Colour: White
Accessories: Tunit module, sportsfilter, roofrails, front bumper protector, Window tint, HID fog lights, reflective striping, amber emergency lights, handsfree and GPS.
Wishlist: HID driving lights
Background: Company car, driving offroad daily on a 400km water pipeline construction project



Based in Saudi Arabia for work, I am driving a Prado diesel since the start of this year. I was already impressed by the quality of our old 2000 model prado 2.7l, but this 2006 model adds ride quality and comfort to the whole experience. Next to this, the diesel engine in this car makes it unstoppable in the desert sands.

Welcome to the forum Mikey. Good looking Prado there as well. The desert is an unforgiving place, but your Prado sounds like its made it a beach 8)

2002 GXL Advantage - Purchased second hand 6 months ago.

It was stock standard when I bought it. Have put a tow bar on it. Next week a bar is going on the front, followed quickly by some lights and a UHF.
Been lurking for a while. Great site and looking forward to gaining some knowledge on Prado's and 4wd ing in general.

Welcome Billyo, i noticed from the other thread you asked about fraser island.

if you are new too the 4wd Game and you are planning on going to Fraser i suggest that you do a sand driving course before you go and get up to Rainbow beach/bribie island and have some practice. Their is no substitute for experience and after been their this week for the fourth time we used the snatch strap more times than in it's whole life, why? we had inexperienced people with us and even the experienced ones, myself included had to hook up the strap once.

I did a drivers course whilst still in the Army. However I must say that flogging a Landrover 110 to its limits and looking after a personal $25000 vehicle are going to produce two totally different driving styles.
Has been a while though, since I've had to think about doing any sort of recovery, so I'll try and take the car up to Bribie for a bit of a play around.

Billyo, lower PSI around 20-22psi and right foot are your friends.
On Fraser this week we had to go down to 15psi to get through ngala Rocks. Now that was and adventure.
