Grew up north of Perth in a coastal town called Geraldton. Since getting my drivers licence have always owned 4WDS, from my 1st an Isuzu KB with the last 2 being Pajero SWB.

Before the kids came along me and wife explored/camped most of north WA, from Mt Augustus, Steep Point (most western point of mainland OZ), Karajini etc - now over 10 years ago.

Then moved to Perth, Kids come along (two boys now 7/5), careers and you hit the big 40. Call it a mid life crisis - but my dream 4WD has always been a Toyota Prado. Sold the last Pajero '96 SWB and convinced the wife on a 06 120 GLX. Hope now to get out of Perth now more and rediscover these areas with the boys.

Already done some improvements since looking at this site-suspension upgrade and lift.

Wish list - update my Avatar with the Prado in the Bush

Once again great site

Hey all,

Another newcomer here - recently bought a secondhand prado, details below...

Model: GXL, 4.0L V6, 6SP Manual
Year: 2006
Colour: Silver
Accessories: Tow Bar, Bullbar... pretty standard at the moment...
Wishlist:

2" lift (getting done tomorrow)
install UHF (got the radio, just need the time to mount it nicely)
snorkel
upgrade to the bashplates
sliders in the back
new rubber (any advice on a decent set of wheels is welcome)
fix the damn clutch thrust bearing
replace the current screen with a nice DVD setup, not sure yet
Replace the windscreen washer jets with Hilux ones - saw that in a thread around here somewhere, looks good!

The list goes on and the more I read and see people doing here the more I want to do!!! Unfortunately the Minister of War of Finance needs to approve most things

Well, I live in Byford, WA (about 45min south of Perth CBD) and work for HWE Mining in the city... was up North about an hour and a half inland of Newman for about 3 years previously. I try to get out and get the car dirty most weekends with a mate but Im still learning the ropes of effective 4wding. Would love to tag along to some of these trips that you guys do around Perth sometime - looks like it would be a blast!

Well, see you around the forum sometime! I will throw up some pictures a bit later this arvo.
2006 Toyota Prado, 4.0L V6, 6sp Manual

Nothing flash... 2" Suspension Lift, Couple of spotties on the Bull bar and a UHF. Loads on the to-do list... The usual story

Hey all

Well firstly this site has been great as i have been looking for a prado since January so thanks to whoever set it up. I got my prado at the beginning of the month after my poor X trail was T boned by some fool in a barina. i was doing 110 on the Hume at the time. Funnily enough the car was still drivable so i continued on to Sydney for NYE....how rock and roll! I did like that car alot but it just could cut the mustard off road so hence i though why not upgrade to a proper 4wd. Looked at the padjero - dont like the idea of no chassis on a 4wd, looked at the patrol TD but apparently the engines blow up, looked at a 'proper' landcrusier but the diesel was slow and thirsty and the TD was waaaay to expensive so settled on the prado and have to say im loving it!

i havent had the chance to take it off road yet but cant wait to see what it can do. im already planning a trip to fraser again. anyway car details below

Model: GXL, 3.0L TurboD, 5SP Manual
Year: 2003
Colour: White
Accessories: Nothing apart from some Maxxis AT tyres
Wishlist: er where do i start....snorkel, OE Toyota winch bumper, Replacement tool kit, dashboard ashtray (how come loads that i looked at had this missing?????), rear wheel cover, roof rails and cross bars, new touchscreen radio unit, various toy racks.....

hi Damo, look on the back for me and see if already has a PP sticker...
that would of been a " mad trip " to get the feeling of a new car ... and sounds like its already decked out...
is yours a manual or auto? alot more open/ roomy than the adventurer too.... enjoy the forum ... butane

Hi Butane.

No PP sticker, but the owner was on here.

There is nothing like a 2000km drive to ge the feel of a new car! I bought my last car from Melbourne, but this was a lot further!

Mine is Auto. Originally i was after a manual TD, but after driving a few of the non D4D's, i wasnt impressed so i went petrol. Manual i would have like, but I'm too lazy to swap cogs on the daily slog to work!

Thanks, Damo
Cheers, Damo
