Not that I'm aware of. I had them fitted up at Ironman's Dandenong workshop while I waited and they don't appear to have modified anything.

Also, who did the rear airbag sensor tweak
############# (a member here) did the work, I just held parts and tools. The sensor tweak wasn't done till about a month after the springs went in to allow them time to settle.

and what rate springs did you use
They are Dobinsons C59-726 springs, also fitted by Anthony. Check out my build thread for more details.

    • Hi, I am new to this forums community. It is a car lovers paradise. I am always been freak about the prado's models. We spend a lot of time in and around your vehicle. Deck it out, and make it as functional as possible. Very useful forum and I have already picked up loads of great ideas regarding cars. So I am very grateful already.

        • Hello

Tony here. Midwest farmer and rec. fishing tragic

I used to think Prados and Hiluxes were just a poor man's landcruiser. My early experience with 2.4 and 2.8lt Hilux utes put me off the idea of a 4cyl 4wd. I used to say hell would freeze over before I would own a Hilux. 20 years on I ended up buying a Hilux, it was cheap, as an extra farm ute and was so impressed with the D4D I brought a 2011 Prado for the Wife.

It's an ex Thrifty mine spec GX that is in excellent condition. Put simply, for those that poo-poo the ex-fleet vehicles, if a bunch of FIFO bogans can't kill it then it stands a good chance of surviving my 3 kids.

As much as I like driving the wife's prado, I like driving my bus better. I'm the second owner of OKA XT #234. It's been a private pop-top camper since purchase in 1995. It has a Perkins 135Ti instead of the standard 110, 400lt diesel capacity combined with the impressive 12lt/100km economy give me a range in excess of 3000kms. It goes well on and off road and is unbelievably comfortable to drive.

              • Company was sold in 2011 and everything shipped overseas. We may see them back from the new Malaysian owners, but whether or not they are the same trucks will be a different story.

Fuel consumption has always been good on the OKAs. I can climb to around 15lt/100kms when I push hard at 110kph in hilly/windy conditions but other than that it just burbles along at 2200rpm at 100kph and 2350rpm at 110kph. There has been a few recent 6.6lt Duramax/Allison auto conversions that are doing about 17lt/100kph but they sound great and go hard.

                          • Hi everyone,

I'm a bit new to this. I've just picked up my new GX Prado, which is what I settled on after owning 2, SR5 Hilux 4X4 Duel Cab utes, since 2005.
Haven't really been off road with any of my vehicles before, so I thought with this one, I might do a few trips while I have it.
The Prado will be predominantly for work, but I am planning on getting in some fun in along the way.

So, why the GX and not the GLX? I didn't need (or want) 7 seats, Chrome on the Grill or colour coded door handles. I just fitted some aftermarket running boards and also have some roof rails to go on at the weekend (if I have time). The package ended up cheaper than a replacement Hilux and for what I have seen in the first 150km of use, the Prado is a far superior vehicle by comparison, and I reckon the Black on White looks pretty good.

Model: GX Prado 3.0L Turbo Diesel
                            Year: 2014
                            Colour: White
Accessories: Tow pack, running boards....pretty standard
Wishlist: add a few bits & pieces as I see useful, & actually get out and use this thing.

                            • Good day all,

You are probably wondering why it has taken me two weeks to introduced myself, sorry I didn't know that the introduction thread exist until now.

I drive all sorts of vehicles at work normally Toyota's, I love the cruiser 70 series but it is not practical for a family of five. Cars that I used to own were mostly four cylinders turbo charge small sedan/ hatchback which are not big enough for a family of five, I do miss my EVOs and STIs but I now have a craze for this Big Black @#!$%* in my garage (I say big is because it's bigger than the cars I used to own).

The plan was to buy a Hilux SR5 for a second car but the missus wanted a damn Kluger Grande, after nearly test driving all the cars in the yard (took all day) we decided to take the new face lift Prado GXL for a spin. At that time I really wanted a Hilux because it was a fourby and it had no leather, the missus wanted a Kluger because it was an SUV (7 seater). You want to know the best thing about the Prado, the Prado has the seating capacity and the luxurious feel (close to it without the leather and other things) as the Kluger and it has the off road and indestructible capability as the Hilux. The VX/Kakadu didnt interest me because of the leather and the price tag, and I believe the 200 series is another vehicle to look forward to when I decide to upgrade the big black @#!$%* in my garage.

When I am not at work, my dress sense consist of a blue wife beater singlet, black shorts and double pluggers and this is why I don't like leather because it sticks to your skin. We got all our leather furniture's replaced last year because it can get really annoying when you wake up and your bare skin stuck to the couch. The other cars I used to own had leather and the hatred grew as time goes by.

Accessories: Rubber floor mats and cargo mat
Wishlist: As per my build thread for this year, my next one will be a bull bar. I am just waiting for all the bars to come out and then I will decide what to put on, I was recently quoted for a TJM T3 winch bar (yes it is ready for sales, their site has not yet been updated).
