        • G'day Guys,

I have been lurking for a while (busy Christmas!) but thought it was time to say g'day properly!

Firstly, thanks to the owners, mods and regular contributors for a truly fantastic site for all things Prado.

About me: aged 35 (half way there hehehe), married with two kids - a boy aged 7 (going on 16) and a girl aged 8 months. I live in the northern suburbs of Perth and have done for about 4 years. Previously in Canberra and Adelaide. I drink too much beer  Other passions include sailing (Hobie 16), drinking and some photography.

I have a 2007 (white!) GXL D4D auto which I love. I got the sovereign bar fitted by the dealer, along with reversing sensors and hard wheel cover (f**k knows why I did that - but that's another thread). Not long after delivery I got an ARB dual battery system, 80L Engel Combi, IPF 900's and some other smaller bits and pieces.

I plan to put in the OME 2" suspension (hard) as well as a mounted compressor (brand undecided - likely ARB) and BFG's. Oh - a roof rack will come in handy for the kids junk!

Most of our driving will be touring - we did the Nullabor via Melbourne then the 'gong and back in October 2007. We plan on buying a camper in the next few months (looking at one of the Coromal Pioneer offroads). I will be setting the Prado up for sand and gravel. Hoping to make Coffin Bay for Christmas '08 with the old man from Adelaide who is a mad 4WD nut in a nice Hilux.

Anyway, I have rambled enough - hope to meet some of you guys for a run soon. I have read many of the WA trip reports and can't wait to get amongst it.

          All the best,

          Andy

          • Welcome along Andy.

Keep an eye on the Trip Reports thread for the next day out.

With this many WA Pradopointers along on trips ... we're gonna need a bigger state !

            Cheers

I really badly wanted to come for the New Years run but knew I would be cactus (good decision, considering I watched the sunrise!).

Anyway, with your photos and the boys stories, I think I was there (almost!).

I look forward to learning from you guys.

Hamish from SA - Im 27 (maybe one of the younger members )

Im waiting on D4D Silver Manual with ARB B/Bar, T/Bar, Rear Spolier, Floor Mats. Already have Lightforce XGTs which have been converted to HID ready to go!

A few things on the future wish list - 2 inch suspension lift (not sure which brand yet), GPS system. The boss (or wife whichever you prefer) actually wants a bonnet scoop as my current car has one!

I drive a 100 series L/C for work and am happy to report after testing a D4D , the prado is quicker.

The site has been a fantastic source of info (Thanks to all) and will hopefully continue to be a good excuse to spend $$ on the Prado - great to be on board!

                    • Hi all,
                      Kelvin from Brisbane.
Been reading this site since early November. Wealth of info on here, you guy know your stuff. Im a firm believer that you can tell a good car by the quality of its forum !

Ordered my Charcoal Grey GXL back in late November and was told soon after that it was to be here early to mid Feb. Last weekend I went car shopping with my brother in-law as he wanted to buy a Diesel D4D hilux. Walked into the motorama dealership to look at hilux's and what do I see? Two D4D prado's sitting on the show room floor. I walked up to the salesman and said "I guess both those prado's are sold?" to which he replied, "The silver on is, but the blue ones not!!" WTF, I thought to myself, then he goes on to say "I also have a white one coming in next week if your interested!"

So Monday morning I rang my dealer and said "is my prado still on track?". To which he replied "Actually its not even scheduled for production until mid February, and there's not gaurantee of that !" So I told him that I will cancel it and go buy the white one at motorama. He siad "wait a minute, if your not to concerned with colour I have a black one coming in on the 17th Jan and a Silver one coming in on the 31st Jan"

So now... Im waiting on a Silver ash GXL which should be here early to mid feb as expected !!!

So I guess if you have more than one colour choice let them know because believe it or not they are not all sold !!

                      Anyway great forum guys !!!

                      • Hi All,

This is a great website, found it the other day. Have been wasting time at work since....

Anyway i get my nex Prado in 2 weeks, its currently sitting at the dealers waiting to get the options installed.

I have a GXL D4D in silver ash, with ARB Deluxe Bull Bar, Haymeen Reese Towbar, all the protectors (bonnet, lights), and the rest..

This will be my first 4WD, currently have XR Falcon so will be something very to drive.

Cant wait to go and pick it up, and get it dirty.

                        • Hi All - I have been watching this site for a few weeks now and really appreciate the wealth of information. We are new to 4wd's for 4wding and are really looking forward to getting into it. Fun45 represents what we want to get out of our 4wding and camping experience Fun-For-Five - my wife and I have three boys (twins 6 and an 8 year old) and we enjoy camping.
We placed our order on the 7th of Jan for a GXL V6 - Option 1 - Silver - Auto - Towbar - Hard Cover Spare Wheel.
We are going to get a Factory Bullbar - But will add after pickup = AT Tyres - Spotties - Dual Batteries - Compressor - Cargo Roof Storage - Engel 40L - Sandgrabbers plus a few other things.
The boys and I plan to go on a big adventure along with Pappa and some other 4wd'ers over the June July break while my wife heads back to the US to catch up with friends and family.
We are now in the waiting game but not as long as some I have read about as we got one that someone else gave up on as they couldn't wait any longer!
Reading about others positive experiences helps build the excitement - thanks to everyone!
