  • Hello and welcome blkmav90. When you get the new Prado, you will want to hit the dirt more than the tarmac ! I have to ask, why are you ditching the Audi ? Although, I understand the sacrifices that need to be made to make room for the perfect vehicle . I hope you find the website useful. If you get the chance to go on a trip with PP members, drop everything and go . You will have a blast .

    • Hi,

Have been a member since Feb 2006. Have been following the forum regulary but not posted much. Forgot password and never got around to renewing it.

      Anyway enough of that.

Have been based in Bedfordale WA for the past 22 years but have just last Christmas relocated to Allens Rivulet in Tasmania for work.

Bought my 4.0L Prado new in Oct 2005 after owning an 80 Series Cruiser and Dual cab Hilux. Best thing I ever did.

Really sorry now that I can't join some of the WA Pradopoint trips. Looks like real fun with some fun people. Maybe one day again.

Photo of us on the Old Eyre Highway just before Christmas on our way to Tassie.

        • Welcome aboard Dom

I'm sure there'll be plenty of trips to get involved in ... including a few weekenders and long weekends .... and they're not all about driving 'til ya drop. A bit of fishing, drinking, yakking and down and sociable is what makes this WA crowd so good.

Look forward to meeting up soon.

          Cheers

                  • Gday all, just joined prado point after finding somehow the other day.
I have a stock stanadard 96/97 petrol. have taken it on a few of the dirty weekends tracks, and used them as a strating point for many others.
Finally got a mate who bought a 4wd, but it is only a patrol.
Just went up to Mt Mee on 28/1, we missed the ABreak section this time as last time I was on my own, and lets say I had the heart going fast. Would be great to join along on some day trips.
May i say there is heaps of info here, its only taken me 2 years to find a site....i am slow.

                      • Another PradoPoint newbie

                        Hi,

I ran into PradoPoint quite by accident a few weeks back. It looks like there's plenty of very useful info, so I've registered and will probably lurk most of the time.

My rig, bought new in the summer of 2004 is the LWB petrol V6, and gets on to the sand dunes regularly. I usually drive offroad with ME4x4.

Current mods include the 50mm OME lift kit, steel bumpers front and rear, a Safari snorkel and a couple of extra lights. There are drawers in the back that are full of recovery and camping kit. The snorkel, before anyone asks, is to keep out dust rather than water.

When it had just been done, my ride looked something like this. There are now some spotlights too.

The Goatmobile is my daily drive so it has to be highway friendly. I was frankly amazed how well it behaves around interchange loops, given the lift kit.

OME lift, safari snorkel, steel bumpers, ally bash plate and LightForce spotlights. Still working on it...

Just a quick message to introduce myself.

I own a 2001 Toyota Prado TX (3.0ltr turbo diesel) that is pretty much stock standard except for an ARB bullbar and spotlights.

I have been reading the posts on this site for a while and thought i would join up, introduce myself and offer help if i could.

                          Ok have fun everyone.

                          • Hello,
Pearlie here. What a great site :!: Found it quite by accident.

I own one of these wonderful 4WD's, a 2004 VX diesel auto in cystal pearl color. I bought it with a package consisting of a roof-rack and bullbar and have since added a dual battery system, off road tyres, towbar and air compressor to get out into the great outdoors. The roof rack is mainly used as a platform for taking photographs but has been used for carting all my 'stuff' across Oz.

I have trekked much of the Pilbara area, Karijini being my favorite area, and have travelled to Purnululu negotiating several creek crossings and many rutted roadways along the way. I have taken her across the Nullabor, up to Queensland and through many of the national parks and camping spots from Eungella to Lamington, Bunya to Carnarvon Gorge and hope to do much much more. Never has my Prado let me down..
What a comfortable machine. Some photos of these places are on my webpage, if you care to look.

My next trip is going to be a tag along trip with a close friend of mine. The itinerary reads something like this..

We traverse the remote Tanami track visiting Wolfe Creek Crater then Halls Creek, the Bungle Bungles, Kununurra, Lake Argyle, Wyndham, Boab Prison Tree, El Questro, Emma Gorge, Chamberlain Gorge, Jack's Waterhole, Gibb River road, Mitchell Falls and Plateau, King Edward River, Kalumburu, Manning Gorge, Bell's Gorge, Windjana Gorge, Tunnel Creek, Derby, Broome, Cable Beach, Cape Leveque, Fitzroy Crossing, Geike Gorge, Timber Creek, Gregory NP and Katherine.
Time is allowed for walking and helicopter flights in the Bungles and the Mitchell Falls, there are two days in glorious Broome, two days in fabulous Cape Leveque, cruises on Lake Argyle, visit the Argyle Diamond mine and catch fish that you have only dreamt of catching.

Why would you not own a Prado?? :?:
You're here for a good time, not a long time... Love my Prado...
