Hi, my wife and i are just about to take hold of our first 05 GXL TD Prado. (charcoal colour) towards the end of the month. First stop will be into my local 4WD place (Outback 4WD) for an ARB winch bar, winch, rear draws from Fourby Fitouts and cargo barrier, under bonnet air compressor (left over from my 80 series, new OME on all 4 corners set of Cooper STT's, new GME UHF, and potentially rear diff lock or roof console and a snorkle for those lovely Victorian river crossings.

We currenlty have a 91 80 series which is completey setup for touring with almost every accessory needed to go anywere, going to be a real shame to sell her as she has done my family really well, but it's time to upgrade to the Prado family and since joining the forum about 8 months ago i haven't looked back. Some fantastic ideas i have and now just need the car to start.

Looking forward to end of Sept, will place some photos as soon as she arrives and with the mods.

My name is Mick, i come from Stockton NSW, i have a 03 Prado which i am trying to deck out a little, its fairly stock now, just 265-70-17 MTRs, Polyairs, Dual Batterys, Sovereign bar and thats about it for now, but i have a Winch to go on it as well as a few other bits and peices in mind.

But my real love in 4wds are Land rovers, This is my toy.
85 County v8, slight lift(1-2in) 37in MTRs, front and rear lock(rear not in yet just sitting on the floor of my shed) longfield axles and CVs up front(got tired of breaking CVs) Lots of custom bits we have built for it suspension and steering wise, Icom 400 Pro, Lightforce XGTs, Dual Batterys, lots of other little bits and peices, i am slowly building this in to a beast aimed purely at offroad fun, i have done all the work myself with the help of my brother and mates help to fabricate the bits needed.

Hey people,

My name is Mark, I was convinced to join after attending the recent Bridle Track trip.

I have noticed a few familiar logins from 4wdAction, so I won't be a complete stranger :lol:

I have a '97 GXL V6, with a few engine tweaks, a suspension lift, bigger tyres, and various other mods.

Hi.

Just a quick intro and a big thankyou!

I've just about made up my mind to buy a Prado D4D. The amount of useful information on this site is fantastic, I think I know more about them than the salesman now!

Based in Adelaide. The Prado will be our trip car for accessing the Flinders and the outback, as well as our jaunts over to the snow. (Plus whatever else takes our fancy) I'm hooked on the idea of a car with genuine offroad ability that can get 10L/100km or less on the highway.

I've just about made up my mind to buy a Prado D4D.

That was quick, It's ordered and should be in the garage by the end of October. Silver GXL with side airbags. Tracking down better tyres, probably go with 694 or Pirrelli ATR if I can find someone in Adelaide willing to do the swap. Happy to hear tyre joint recommendations if any Adelaideians are watching.

Bridgestone Noarlunga did mine, but I think they have changed owners now? (Rob was the guy I dealt with).

The beaurepairs near CMI in city would also but they thought I was a bunny on price and offered 90 bucks a tyre!!

I had CMI remove my wheels at PD stage, and picked them up to have tyres swapped, that way they werent driven on.

Hi, my name is David and I'm a PP junkie...

No seriously... now that we've got our Prado I feel I can add to this thread and formally introduce myself.

We bought a new 2008 Dune coloured 6sp manual Prado GXL - delivered today. This is our first ever Prado. Our previous 4wd was a Patrol. We would've got a Prado last time around but none were available (>9 month wait) and we were heading to a remote posting... so the Patrol won the race. Now that we've got the Prado... we won't ever be going back to Nissan!

I'm a Territorian born and bred. Grew up and lived at most places right across the Territory at one time or another. Love it here, especially the outdoors, camping, fishing and lifestyle.

I'm married with three great kids. One boy and two girls. Fortunately for me the wife loves 4wd'ing, camping, fishing and the outdoors as much as me. How good is that?

Our new car is booked into ARB tomorrow morning to have a deluxe roof rack with spare wheel carrier and milford cargo barrier added. We've also got some specially ordered custom fit sheepskins covers waiting to be fitted. Hopefully we can arrange this before the weekend. Will post some pics of these on another thread once fitted!

I'll be heading off with the family to Broome next Wednesday for a couple of weeks, so further additions will have to be put on hold for a little while longer... but not too much longer.

My PP sticker has already been added to our vehicle, so hopefully I'll come across some other PPointers somewhere along the blacktop or dirt.

PS. I love this forum.
