Winch Choice

ive got a tigerz and its going strong, for the money if it breaks in a couple of years throw it out and buy another. you can get a 12000lb for only a few hundred bucks with wireless remote and all. Cant really go wrong...

Its just the hercules winch 12000lb with steel cable. Cost me $299!!! All I did was silicon all around the controller box to make it waterproof as thats the only dodgy part I could see between the hercules and the grande winches. No doubt the insides are different but I just greased it all up with good grease and sealed the controller box properly. The amount I use it I wanted to test it out. Ive done a trip to fraser, glasshouse and inskip twice and havent needed it yet!

I rang up the head office to enquire why the Grande 12000 lb one wasn't listed on their site and they told me about the new one. Also. My son is doing work experience at one of their outlets here in WA and also told me about the new one, although there is not a great deal of info yet. They are freighting it for free for me as well.

I can't find any new winches on the Tigerz11 website. Do you have a link?

Probably the "special edition" 12000lb (here https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater).

Looks the same as my current Grande except for the paint job and orange rope instead of blue.

$900 is getting up there with some of the name brands in price, I wonder if it will live up to the hype in that video. I also hope they've made the control box cables a bit longer, I had to get the ones on my Grande winch replaced with longer ones since I couldn't mount it on top of the bullbar (I have a front camera).

I've got a Hammerhead 13000lb winch with rope, alloy hawse and wireless remote. From memory it was around $400 or just under off eBay. A premier would have been my first choice but I couldn't justify spending the bucks on something I'll rarely use. I don't get stuck much
I did use it twice in one night recently to recover a hilux and a navara whilst spotlighting - that was a fun night!
I've had the winch about 18 months and I'm really impressed with it. Great value for money.

What winch to get? Help

Hey guys ive been looking at winches and im interested in this one ( Ridge Ryder 12000lb ) because is not to expensive, Should i get it ?
Please comment your thoughts on it!

I'm with Steve on this one, unless you're going to be using it regularly (which 95% of us aren't), after doing some research i'd be going for one of the cheaper brands.
The old "you get what you pay for" line is definately true to a degree, but it also only goes so far.

I have a 13,000lb winch with Dyneema rope I got off ebay for about $400. I've used it in anger three times (to rescue other people) and it worked perfectly. I had to take the gearbox off to rotate it when I changed my bull bar recently and the inside looked the same as it did when I fitted it.

I had a 9500pound VRS winch with rope that I purchased from Opposite Lock for about $850. It works great and is imported into Australia by the same importer as Warn. I had a small electrical issue not long after purchasing it and they replaced the control box etc to try and solve the problem.

Has worked fine ever since.

My 9500 Runva winch has been excellent, and its been thru some big water crossings etc and has never failed, its the fastest winch I've seen in action so far as well.

Hi derek11 I'm about to order a Runva 9500. which one did you get the Q or the standard?
