  • Ouch!!!

Well, I'll be out of action for a while. This happened on Sunday after my lads soccer game. He was in the front with me and we both walked away with just a scratch on his collar bone from the seatbelt.
Just waiting now to see if it's a write off.

Thanks dude. I just finished carpeting my drawers the night before, now they'll probably write the car off.
At least the next Prado will have a draw right from the start.

On another note, when we saw the car the next day, you can tell it did exactly what it was designed to do. The crumple zones took the full impact and didn't transfer the force to the rest of the car. The A pillars are near perfect condition.

Never good to see or hear about this but it is great news that you are both well. Nice to know that the Prado did exactly what it was designed to do.

The other car wasn't that bad. A Holden Nova, the front passenger headlight is cactus along with the bonnet. Probably only a couple of thousand $$'s worth of damage.

                        Hi

Some fellow Qldsers have had similar damage to cars and been OK which is a testament to the authorities regulating for better safety equipment. An interesting point is that on a 150 Prado the headlights are $1000.00 each the bumper $2000.00, airbags in the front including steering wheel $4000.00 from what I have been told, so we have rapidly moved into the world of throw away vehicles. Maybe that is why insurance for our fourbys is expensive but we all have the advantage of much safer vehicles.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

Sorry to see this Dan. Glad you guys are ok! Blasted soccer hey ;-)

You were starting to fit accessories so make sure you grab what you can for the next prado. Oh, and make sure the next one has a bull bar. Would be interesting whether it would have made much difference. I'm guessing someone pulled out in front of you? Looks like you were moving along pretty quick!

Glad no one was injured. I had a small ding a couple of years ago in my 03 120, about a week before leasing a new 09 120. It was my fault, as I hit the vehicle from behind at an intersection. The little old lady in front of me in an old Pulsar hatch moved left from the intersection and propped. I didn't, and hit her square in the rear. She said she was giving way, but the only car coming was still six hundred metres away!@%%$?
Anyway ... I had a alloy Toyota bar on which received only a small dint in it, but the damage to the Pulsar was extensive. Both guards, boot and rear glass, all gone.
The impact speed was only about 20-30klms, my air bags didn't even go off, but I think the old Pulsar may have been a right-off. IMO any type of bar make a difference.

Finally told the Prado will be written off. I went down & took everything off that I could.
Thanks for all your sympathy. Now on the lookout for a replacement.
