    A few years ago I had a 2.8d 4runner insured with AAMI.

Fitted a safari turbo and told AAMI.

AAMI wouldnt cover it due to the mods.

Went with another insurer (4wd Insurance maybe?) who covered it.

The premium was cheaper than before the mod. When I got the paperwork it was underwritten by, wait for it, AAMI.

    Go figure

I had DGA Insurance for my Surf - they insured it without problems as others did not want to know about it.
My 2008 GXL is also with them. Premium is a bit more, but full cover anywhere in the country appeals.

I'm with Budget Direct but they don't cover the mods and extras either, I've used shannons with a few old classics I've owned 70,s Valiants and Falcons and they were really good at covering modifications and coming to agreed values but haven't sussed them out for 4bies. Never heard of DGA must check them out

We're with AAMI for both our cars (Prado + Barina) they've been great to deal with in two claims (one on each car) I currently have all my accessories listed although haven't had to claim against it yet and last time I was adding them they could only list 6 items and that was the 6th.

When I had the ute I got a quote from Shannons - Nearly $6k, would not be covered at home if not secured in the garage, limited to 10,000km per year, I was the only driver allowed even if the other person was over 25. While I was under 25 driving a V8 rediculus price and rediculus conditions/exclusions.
