Flags on vehicles. Patriotic or Racist?

After finally getting my 6th toe removed after leaving the Shire many many years ago,

Lived all my nearly 60 years in The Shire, do not and never had extra toes or fingers. Hahaha. If I had my way, non residents would need a passport to enter The Shire.

There is only one flag for Australia, and it has a lot of blue colour, with red and white as well: no other colours.

not sure if anyone has posted this info, but there was a study done by the university of W.A that stated that a higher percentage of racists were in the group that fly flags. it didnt actually say all people who fly them are racist. the media blew it way out of preportion. that and the study only had 500 test subjects.

Hey, Tassie, don't let this get to you, mate. My first wife had those dark eyes, I loved looking into them. I have pretty dark skin too, my line goes back to Spain. I thick the darker your skin is, the better in this country. Anyone who has lived in say the NT, will know what I am talking about. I always look at those people with black skin and thick to myself, you lucky buggers.
My sister had light skin and she died of skin cancer at the age of 41. My best friend that I ever had, had a heart attack on the job and died in my arms trying to find two lost german tourist. He was from one of the tribes out at WMR. We used to joke around about how I would get sunburn so easy compared to him. He was a great Ranger and a great friend, he did his people proud. My life is less without these two people being in it.
The moral for what I am trying to say is, if you judge somebody by their skin colour, you are the one that will miss out, possibly on the best friendship you will ever have and the enrichment that goes with it.

Thanks for the support. What stunned me was that the crap was not only on prado point but appeared to be condoned and supported by some.

Agree with your comments about missing out on the opportunity for friendship. I was lucky enough to serve in the militarised zone in East Timor and worked with many from the sub continent, particularly Sri Lankins and Nepalese. The respect that they showed to us Australians was unbelievable.

When we first arrived the Sri Lankin commander took the patrol vehicle off his own officers and gave it to us to take home, even though they lived a couple of k's further up the road. We argued with them but to no avail. The commander simply would not take no for an answer and kept saying "the Australians should not have to walk".

Whilst there a group of militia came through firing automatic weapons to scare the locals. Three SL's and three of us went out to try and find them. The SL's would not let us in front, continually wanting to be at the front - 'in the firing line' so to speak. Later over a Tiger beer the Commander explained that they would not have been able to face going home if one of the Australians got shot instead of them.

Later, when we transferred over to Turiscai, a remote village in the highlands, the Nepalese immediately gave up their positions in command for the Australians. Wouldnt take no for an answer.

Some of us will be friends forever.

This is the respect that the subcontinent, or the 'curry munchers', have for Australians. I doubt very few Australians would give anywhere near the help that we received. Or is that just the view you get from a some?

Racists are either uneducated or choose to have those views. If they are uneducated then they should educate themselves. If they choose to keep those views then they should keep them to themselves. Or even better, have the courage of their convictions and drive a Holden.

How stupid to suggest that Indians shouldnt fly their flag at the cricket. Australia has built up our bronzed aussie image, fighting against the world to defy oppression.

Compare us to the 'curry munchers'. In the second world war they provided the largest volunteer army in history (over 2.5million) to fight ON OUR SIDE. About 200,000 women also served in the navy and merchant navy. They fought in the middle east, Africa, Europe including the battle for Monta Cassino.

They were awarded 30 Victoria Crosses (Australians were awarded 20). 37000 dead, 65000 injured, 80000 POW's. All this while the Japanese killed an estimated 2,000,000 of their own countrymen.

I think they have earned the right to wave their flags with us. But sadly, racism is not a thinking persons game. Just say whatever stupid crap will make you look tough to your mates. Actually, they should get together with the rent a crowd idiots at the Tent Embassy and move somewhere else where they can throw stupid racist taunts at each other.

im a multi racist . i hate them all but im NOT flying a flag . those bloody curry munchers better not fly their bloody curry muncher flag at the cricket or eat lamb korma today . this day is for bloody caucasians not them coloured bastards . they suggested that we should also be flying the aboriginal flag, why aren't we flying that in support of them . hmmm they only have a flag because we gave it to them , and it was FREE . what a crap-arse media beatup . enjoy your day everyone and celebrate australia's national day of getting totally munted and falling in the water where ever you are .

Racism: The belief that a particular race, especially one's own, is superior to other races. Just because I don't like aspects of your culture, or the fact that you won't assimilate into mine, doesn't make me believe that my lot are superior. Every race has it's faults and dislikes. Just don't come to this great country and force me to be like you.
