yep like ive mentioned before , the search engine is useless , and the regulars get tired of the same dumb questions like where is the centre headrest ? or why is my diesel auto slow and why does it blow black smoke when i mash my foot to the floor is this normal ? or how much fuel will my v6 suck down while towing a 40ft caravan around the world ? hang on how about a new thread for the most ridiculous questions , like if i put the wheels off a caterpillar minning truck on my prado will it affect the handling adversely . come on i bet MLC will have a couple of mildly amusing questions .

You must have a really comfy doghouse MLC because you seem to enjoy spending time there

Although I can't say for sure, I don't think the old timers have left because of 'chastising', I think they just decide to move on to other things.

The issue for Pradopoint is that I reckon most of the more common issues with the Prados have been discussed time and time again, and therefore when it arises again, it can get tiresome for the regulars. Kinda like when my wife asks me every time before we go out if its cold outside and will she need a jumper...
I think your right Mad-K. I have heard directly and indirectly of a few well known posters that have either found other interests or joined other forums. Some have spat the dummy and others just wanted to move on. I guess the facts are PP is a community of individuals who will from time to time see things differently, approach things differently and basically all have varying degrees of wants from the forum.

The forum will go on and more will leave as well as come. God help us all if DJ (son of AJ) takes over from his old man. That will be one individual that will have learnt Dad's tricks and added them to his own super smart abilities!

It's like the OLD bull is bored and is looking for something new to chase where the young bull is keen and is chasing everything...

Maybe people can start providing feedback on their mods after they have been fitted for 6- 12 months as an example. I know I have fitted some mods (maybe all) because of this website and some didn't perform or work as well as I liked. Things like might keep the OLD bull interested

    Winston.

I'm just a newb here myself and i have to say that the search option here is pretty crappy compared to other forums i've been associated with.

That being said i've been one of the original bunch of members on a couple of bike forums, with the usual 10 million posts up my sleave and it does get old when people just ask the same old stuff day in and day out without even looking, which is half the reason i stepped away from it. But like has been said i guess everyones gotta start somewhere.

I have to say though that all my questions have been answered in a positive & Helpful way. Maybe the search option just needs a bit of love and a re-vamp???

Hey AJ, do yous "warm and fuzzy" members get a special search that works ?
Nah, it improved before I got my warm fussy feeling, eversince the forum upgrade? around Easter last year it wasn't picking up any threads that hadn't been posted in since the upgrade, I triead a search a month or 2 ago and it pulled up threads that hadn't been active since 2006, I have used it a number or times since and it has been good. Google is also a good option, but requires you to type another word, typing can be bloody hard work

with all the recent changes maybe the powers will look at this one as well.

Getting back to the original topic of this thread, when people register it would be useful if they recieved an automatic email pointing out the basics ie. link to rules thread, introductions thread, advice on how to search etc etc. I know I got an email like that when I joined the Newhilux forum, should be pretty easy to do I would have thought.

    Cheers Andrew
