It still will get back to the basics and that is the range will only be as good as that of
the phone, ie if your 500ks from somewhere and there isn't a string of phones between you
and who you want to call (and there wont be in the outback) then it isn't going to work.
Also as mentioned above, small scale in an area could would using similar to IP routing,
