      • 100% happy with my 697's - minimal wear for 20,000k (mainly highway) new depth 12.5mm - currently 9.4mm
Tyres rotated through all 5 every 5,000k and wear is measured. The pressures are monitored weekely, alignment due to be checked again now
Im running the non LT versions (as they are not available here) @ 42F and 34 R

AH OK, that explains the price difference then. I have LT 265/60/R18, list price on those is something like $449.

              • Just got back from getting a set of 265/65/17 D697s fitted, now done 5.2 kms and i'm very happy with the wear so far hahahaha
Ended up getting them for $274ea fitted and I got the free rotations every 5 & free alignment @ 10, and 6 months free roadside thrown in. I already have RACQ but hey it's the thought that counts.

Very happy with the blokes at Bridgestone Select in Caloundra. Good attitudes & good service.

                Cheers

                • Yes I have them on mine now as well. I have standard size (265/65/17's L/T's) and was very impressed with them off road on the weekend, thought they gripped well and even in some mud (wasn't much, hate the stuff) it seemed to handle it well. Im running 40psi all round around town and dropped them to 24psi while off road on the weekend. Noisier then the grandtrecks but this is to be expected. I paid $290 per tyre with free rotation every 6 months or 10k but wheel alignment is at a reduced price not free which they recommend once a year. Over all very happy with them......Cheers Steve Should add had them fitted by Jax in Penrith, at last some one who takes pride in their work........Cheers

Yep sure did, i believe that size only comes in LT, which suits me just fine.

                      • Thanks. I'll see if I can get the same deal in Brisbane. My BFG's are up for replacement. They're a tough tyre I've got 85000km with 4.5mm to go. The prices I'm being quoted for a new set are a bit excessive. I'm leaning towards buying an extra spare and have 6xD697's rather than 5 x BFG's.

                        • 85,000 bloody hell that's good. I got 36,000 out of my grandcraps, probably could have got another 5 out of them but I just got sick of looking at them.

                          • My current BFG's will get another 20 000km on sealed roads however after my last offroad trip the rubber is cracked and chipped pretty bad. I wouldn't feel overly confident taking these on a long offroad trip again.

                            • I'll never get that good a life out of any brand of tyres, every single intersection in my area is a damn roundabout which are tyre killers.

Don't worry the low ones that are only a couple of inches high are known as "throughabouts" in my car, but most of them up hear have a bloody tree or big shrubs planted in them it's just a pita.

This may be the way to go, will have to do some recon first to make sure no possums live in the trees.
