And, after fitting the 1.2m fibreglass antenna, I busted the flouro tube in the carport. Forgot about the lack of clearance.

I should imagine jacking a front wheel up with engine off, in neutral and handbrake off, if it spins freely the problem should point to a seized drum brake.

Prado is constant 4 wheel drive - front wheel wont spin

Hmmm if I'm thinking straight atm, it should be possible to spin one front wheel in neutral if the center lock is off. It will rotate the front propeller shaft, but it will have some resistance.

Spent the Easter weekend and the next week at Fraser. Lots of things broke. One mate with a Terracan had the vacuum actuator that locks it into 4WD die so he was stuck in 2WD. Not good in soft sand. Forcing the actuator into the 4WD position and putting a hose-clamp on kept him going for the week.

The other mate that we went up with had a hole develop in the radiator of his 90 series Prado near Awinya Ck. I towed him about 30km across the island with the intention of going to Eurong, but some good samaritans with some putty patched it for him at Eli Creek.

As for me, one of the fibreglass poles for my tent broke in gale force winds. On the way home, I got caught by a wave that washed up high on the beach (yuck!) and for a couple of minutes my speedo stopped working. It started again after a fresh-water creek crossing. Finally the corrugations on the inland Hook Point Bypass Road broke one of the spotlights where the bracket joins the body of the light, so it was hanging by the wires. With a $20 tent pole and a $40 set of spotties being the only casualties, I came off pretty light compared to my travelling companions.

Transfer case got stuck in low range, had to drive from Davies plain hut to jindabyne in 4L. Didn't really do the tyres or my patience much good . Have since pulled it out and given to mechanic to fix.
                      Cheers

Went to Coffs Harbour and broke the front axle Here is a photo of the amount of shaft I had left in the front diff drivers side, it had snapped off at the end of the spline. we used a magnet to get it out of the diff.
That breakage stopped 2WD from working so I had to put it in 4WD to get the rear wheels to spin and of course nothing at the front was gripping so I had to drive back to Brisbane in 4WD.

So that's the spline of the inner CV? Did it break exactly at the snap ring position?
