Yeah, thanks guys
i originally looked through the Max Ellery book which had a crappy diagram and not very clear directions on how to do it, which made me think " just get it done by a pro". After a little bit of surfing on friday night, I found the complete toyota service manual for $15 download ! Once i read the instructions , which were very clear and lots of piccy's i decided i might as well give it a go.
For those of you that dont mind getting a bit dirty i can highly recommend the online manual i got, as it has a comprehensive guide to just about everything to do with your car.
Cheers

You are a legend Phil. Thanks for all the advise and info on whats happenin with yours. I have been looking at those wksp manuals. You can get one on disc for about $15 on ebay so I will have to get one. There is nothing better than everyone sharing what little or huge amount of info/experience with things like this.
Thanks
Clinton

Hi Frank,
Here is a picture of today's progress, i have now cleaned all components ready to reassemble, got the syncro gear and the little springs in the mail yesterday just waiting on a couple of seals from toyota ( hopefully tomorrow). Then i can put it all back together.
Was pretty suprised when I opened the package from aust trans specialists that the part i ordered was in a "genuine toyota" package, lucky i got it from these guys as it was $40 cheaper than toyota quoted.06 120 GXL 1KZ-TE man, modified exhaust, K&N, OME 2",spacers, Sovereign BB, Safari Snorkel, Hella 4000, 33" muddies, ARB 60L fridge / slide ,custom rear drawer, cargo barrier and table, Ironman 9500lb Winch, TJM underbody guards, DIY Radiator bash plate, Outback Ideas recovery points, AJ's sliders, CKMA12, lockers, ext rear breather, UHF, dual batt, SBi12, ARB alloy roof cage, ARB side awning...

All back together and tested. Total cost $153. And a couple of six packs for favors.

That's excellent news Phil on the cost and that it is also completed in less time than originally thought.
Cheers

120 high low stuck in low.
Hi,Originally posted by fourbyphil View PostThanks for the reply barra, I have now pulled apart the case and could see that the selector fork is getting jammed , but don't really have the right tools to do such a job, so I took it down to the local bloke here in town, he reckons he'll have it done by this Arvo. Just a comment for you. The selector is in a sealed unit under the interior of the car, so if you washed it and was better , maybe you have a leak in the boot under the floor pan. I can take some photos while it's apart if ya
Ike so you can see what I mean

I was doing some sand driving near Exmouth this weekend and when I went to change from low back to high, I could only get it out of low and into neutral. I tried man handling it but it would not budge. I read on this thread about giving it a good clean, that has not worked. I tried unwinding any wind-up and that did not work. Off to the mechanic in the morning. Can you let me know what you diagnoses was as this might help me in sorting out the problem. Drove 150k home in low, not much fun having Patrols over taking me. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Yesterday I came across a 120 getting loaded up on a tow truck near dargo.
I stopped to see what the problem was.
Once again stuck in low range.
The towie said its a common problem in the 120's
Is it common or becoming common?
Is there anything we can do to prevent this shoit from happening?
