    ####,
After pulling mine apart and rebuilding I can say you should come to a COMPLETE STOP before changing from low to high or vice versa, this will minimise the chances of thus happening as the little clips that became dislodged are only held in by pissy little springs. I pulled my transfer case out in my driveway, and was a painful job to say the least. Definitely not something to do out on the tracks. On the plus side it was only a couple of hundred dollars to repair including new seals etc. the cheapest quote I got from a transmission place was $1000 plus parts.....
    Cheers
    Phil

        No worries butane,
After driving home for 4 hrs in low range it gave me a long time to think. Despite toyota saying "below 10kph" i will never do that again. Come to a complete stop , select neutral, clutch in then change . After speaking to a mechanic mate of mine, he suggested NEVER going into low range unless you really need to. Sometimes i used to find myself in 5th gear low range because i was too lazy to change back to high range. He suggested that this is a no -no as well.
        cheers
        Phil

Hi Phil, my 120 just experienced something very similiar where 'intermittently' the transfer case wouldn't release back into High range. Mechanics and transmission speclailists cannot relplicate the problem

Hi there Phil, I always flick back to high range ASAP I don't like buzzing along a dirt track still in low range when not required. I have always stopped dead when going in or out of low range in fact the prado, hilux wouldnt let you move the transfer lever anyway unless you were stopped dead. Have done this with last 5 4wd's and never had any transfer issues. I also do it for fuel economy..... Unfortunately if mine did shit itself it would be a workshop job as I wouldn't have a bloody clue how to fix lol..... Cheers Steve
