Back onto the 4WD Action bandwagon - has anyone else noticed that Shaun's 60 series is now sporting an ARB front bar whereas he previously had fitted a TJM one? Wonder what the goes is there? Perhaps it coincides with TJM seeming to have pulled advertising from the DVD's?NOW FOR SALE!!! - 2004 Silver GXL 3lt 4spd Auto - ARB Bullbar, Safari Snorkel, Redarc Dual Battery System, Cooper ST MAXX, Dark Tint, IPF900XS spots, Raised Bilstein/Kings Suspension/Firestone Airbags, Autosafe Cargo Barrier, Sandgrabbers, Rola Roof Rack Stuff, Insect Screen, Dust/Wind Deflectors, Sheepskin/Black Duck Seatcovers, GME TX3510, ARB underbonnet compressor, Allied Hammer Rims, ARB UVP, AJ Sliders

In another life I was offered a dream job that was to include 1 month of 4wding mixing with 4wders and "promoting" products (not annual leave, actually getting paid to do it). Part of that involved "suppliers" providing there latest products free of charge. I suspect that is what is happening here. My brother in law has a 4wd business and a disco that has been kitted out for next to nothing.

I don't think you will ever know. FYI, I saw the same TJM guy (the one from the DVD's that drives the 150) on 4wdTV recently.Originally posted by Madkore View PostBack onto the 4WD Action bandwagon - has anyone else noticed that Shaun's 60 series is now sporting an ARB front bar whereas he previously had fitted a TJM one? I had work done at TJM Underwood in Brisbane and they fit ARB gear for Toyota dealers in their area when the buyer requests it. They told me that if I wanted any brand of gear to give them a chance to quote on supply and fit.Originally posted by Davros View PostI don't think you will ever know. WHOA! Some of these comments are blowing my mind! TJM fitting ARB gear? Seriously? Whats next? Apple Mac's are going to be compatible with Windows?
Seriously though, the TJM bar fitted to the 60 series was brand new - now its got a brand new ARB bar. I also notice Roothy has jumped off the TJM bandwagon, fitting OME springs and 'old' ARB gear fitted to his Mustard Troopy. Roothy has also started 'advertising' in the trip report writeups on the DVD adventures - even to the point of providing telephone numbers and contact persons (e.g. whatshisface at DSS and whosthatguy at the Finance mob).
What erks me is that they think their readers are 'less than intelligent' - assuming we can't tell the difference between an article and an advert. Shamefully, I am a subscriber but thats because my wife won't let me take the computer to the throne.NOW FOR SALE!!! - 2004 Silver GXL 3lt 4spd Auto - ARB Bullbar, Safari Snorkel, Redarc Dual Battery System, Cooper ST MAXX, Dark Tint, IPF900XS spots, Raised Bilstein/Kings Suspension/Firestone Airbags, Autosafe Cargo Barrier, Sandgrabbers, Rola Roof Rack Stuff, Insect Screen, Dust/Wind Deflectors, Sheepskin/Black Duck Seatcovers, GME TX3510, ARB underbonnet compressor, Allied Hammer Rims, ARB UVP, AJ Sliders

I'm not what sure what this thread is about ... 3 posts above this one is some advertising for ARB, etc.
Advertising is everywhere. If you think Current Affair and Today Tonight are not just advertorials, then you probably won't spot Roothy trying to sell you something (every 10 minutes if they have your email).Ok, I now drive an FJ Cruiser but did have an 90 series Prado for 11 years and before that, 4Runners from 1985.

The thread is about people who might be posting great things about a product or service because they are getting a kick back for doing so but not making clear that is why they are posting their comments.Originally posted by outdoorgaz View PostI'm not what sure what this thread is about ... 3 posts above this one is some advertising for ARB, etc.

Obviously Roothy and all the others at 4wd action will promote any half decent product if they get paid the appropriate amount to do so, thats their job and blind Freddy can see that it is just an advertisement rather than a truly honest opinion on whatever product they are flogging. Take GIC campers, they are rubbish but they pump them up as though they are the best thing since sliced bread.
As for the ARB, Maxtrax and Redarc adds in the signatures of the GTG committee, once again its not deceptive, its unashamadly promoting the sponsors for this years GTG.

I am not throwing mud at another organisation, and I am certainly not suggesting EMG are deceptive. Quite the opposite, they are about as subtle as a smack on the head with a lump of 4x2 and they will promote whatever product brings in the bucks, good on em, and I think everyone realises that.
As for the GTG sponsors, the sponsorship committee has made a deliberate point of only approaching companies that in our opinion offer quality products so there is no conflict of interest. Go through my posts and you will find me saying negative things about some of the products from a couple of the companies, after all nobody is perfect............ But Jennifer Hawkins is pretty damn close
