Well I'm 36, 4 kids and like many others have had various 4b's before the Prado, including a 80series, 6.5 turbo GU wagon, GQ twin locked wagon and currently have a heavily modified GU ute (currently for sale!!). Although the 120 is a very capable vehicle ( I have put mine in places my mate in his twin locked GQ hasnt) I just didnt feel all that comfortable in putting it over the harder stuff. Maybe its the IFS front end and no live front axle, or maybe I'm just used to the bigger trucks.
Iam happy with it though, dont get me wrong, but like Paddy81 said, "what is classed as young???"
120 V6, with a little bit of this n that

Okay my 3rd attempt,I'm 47 and into my 5th car.

It's nice not to have to plan every overtaking move when it comes to overtaking roadtrains like I did with the 80!.
there are fair few Prado's in town and very few are still in stock trim.

            Maybe age isn't everything.

Had my widom teeth removed last month, so I'm at a distinct disadvantage now at getting old and wise...

And just yesterday I flushed out my engine with Penrite HPR... Through the filler, through the crank and straight out where the sump plug should have been. I hope there wasn't any children around, I had a bit to say about it too.

I think there's a lot to be said about the old adage of age and experience is something not to be discounted.

I am 44 with a 4.5 and 6.5 year old. Have always had shit cars and new motorbikes, then a 4wd with motorbikes when they started doing novated car leases at work. Exploring things with motorbikes, cars, 4wd even bushwalking is something I enjoy.

Have now given the motorbikes away, I think mainly my balls have shrunk since having kids, but I still like having a second car that handles and is a joy to drive, not a big pig 4wd.

However, have just finished a lease on a 2010 150 Prado, which I am trying to sell and have bought another one. They have really grown on me.
They are a great office for the family to explore this country in or just cruise around. Certainly have cut back on speeding tickets since driving a 4wd.
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.

38, wife, 3 kids and like many others here had the v8 Holdens and such. One day needed emergency car for work and a mate had a 40 series for $800 bucks, get what you pay for but the 4x4 bug bit hard. So much fun any time any where. Then I bought a 89 Hilux, live axle front and rear drum brakes and 2.4L petrol. still good fun, but just like the cruiser you really had to drive it everywhere you went and hope there was somewhere to go in an emergency. Decided to upgrade to the 90series because the family was starting to grow and it was the best thing I have ever done. Raised it 40mm to help it along and if driven with a bit of thought and control these things go just about anywhere. I also thought they would have been a bit soft, glad I didn't stick with that feeling. as for being an old person car, well I guess you are only old when you don't want to have fun any more. Don't want to look like an old persons car, then put some mean accessories on it.
Currently saving for Xrox bar, new bash plate and some rock sliders. yee ha!!

Lots of long posts I will read later....

Many uninformed persons are like that, they call it a Playdo, I think that's great, my Playdo toy, I'm an old fart 37yr old,
Although I service these, I was uneducated on their capability offroad also untill last year.....
Hiluxes do well offroad, their owners sayings are "I've got a Hilux I can go anywhere"
Well, Prado is the same but better.....
S.w.b, as good or better clearance for the angles
                  Smaller turning circle
                  Softer ride
                  More flexible coil rear
                  More power and torque
                  More towing capacity
                  List goes on
                  Blah blah......
They will get more popular as we educate....

                  Personal choice......

36 (from memory), got married 4 months ago and had our first baby 4 weeks ago!
Bought the Prado coz we met 8 years ago while travelling OZ in my old Troopy which went anywhere we pointed it, wanted a 4x4 again that was pretty new, safe, comfortable and capable off road. Loved the reliability of Toyota but thought the 100 or 200 series were just a bit to big for the missus to swing into carparks and she didn't want a ute so bought the 120 only 2 months ago and looking forward to building up a half descent machine and seeing just how far she will go.
p.s. have learnt heaps from this forum already!

27 (feel older most mornings though!) Sold a V8 ute to get my new 150 GXL, perfect car for this part of the world - would love to do a Cape York trip while up here for work. I had a D40 Navara in 08-10 and enjoyed my first 4x4 experience and the licence was never going to hold up to another year of the V8 Ute.

Copped plenty of flack from the boys about buying a family car but i know they are jealous and wish they had a prado!

Guys I'm 38. Had v8 xa fords to rx7 to 300zx twin turbos. The petrol head never leaves you......
4wd wise I've had........wait for it..........v6 pajero, (2nd most comfortable), .........fully decked out 80 series, to die for, but petrol gas ( was never happy as it wasn't diesel), ........GU patrol.......(gutless 2.8td even with 3' exhaust and mods)..........THEN FULLY DECKED OUT TOURING WEAPON 2007 76 SERIES cruiser V8td common rail beast........twin wheel carrier 3'lifted etc etc.......( bench seat rear no 3rd row. Massive power and wow factor but was agricultural to drive like the 80...... Boom wife falls pregnant with baby no 4!!!!!! Goodbye 76 to find a 4wd with 3rd row seating.........this is where it gets interesting.........
After looking at 100series and prado's I reluctantly bought a 120 series Prado simply because it looked fresher than a 100 series and it had half the Kim's of any100 series on the market........I can say I've owned the best 4wds on the market and after all the ones I've owned, the Humble Prado is my favorite.
More capable than the 76 in sand, obviously not towing though' the most comfortable, best on road manners thanks to IFS, best looking, easiest to drive and seriously, most mods are over kill on most 4wds, I don't care what people say.....a stock prado, or any 4wd will go 95 percent of anywhere in aus......stupid rock ledges aside.
So don't knock the prado.....they're as good, if not the best on the market and I've owned the best.....even my wife's dad has a 200 series and its sick but way too fat to park and too pretty to scratch......just my 2 cents.
Black mica 06 D4D GXL. , kitted out to take me where we need to go to feel free......

36 I think. Had an Suzuki Sierra SJ-80 for years. Awesome car - and anyone who's owned one will likely say the same. I really wanted something that'd do highway driving with a bit more ease and had a few more creature comforts. I was leaning towards a ute or even juicing up the Suzi, but after going out with my folks to look at Prado 150's, my mind was pretty well set.

I still feel guilty about selling the ever trusty Suzi. It'll take the Prado a long time to take the mantle of "favourite car". Pretty sure most of you guys will think I'm on crack for saying that To be fair, the Prado has already pulled quite a few sweet surprises when heading off the black stuff.

Well there is six prados in my street including mine! and that doesn't account for the other 20 or so that inhabit town (not work vehicles).
There is a large variation in setups for their owners going from stock setup right through to full offroad weapons and for towing vans for annual holidays and I can't honestly say that there are any "old farts" amongst us.
This is my third 4by and definatley my favorite,i loved my old '80 series' but being totally shagged after a 1600k trip in it doesn't do it for me anymore nor the noise induced headaches.
