      SK, in late 2006 when the D4D was introduced their was minor updates to the range ie, GXL gained roof rails and Bluetooth, VX gained leather i think, GX got wide wheels and flares and all of the chrome mirrors and grille etc.
      Part of the 2007 aug updates inclued the new model Prado "Standard" in turbo diesel only.

            How about adding that in November 2002 the Prado was re badged as the Lexus GX 470 and was introduced as a 2003 model in the US.

            Furthermore the 120 platform was introduced in February 2006 as the Toyota FJ Cruiser as a 2007 model......thus creating the best and most capable 4X4 in Toyota history???????

            ......OK...I get it....but you can add the Lexus GX 470 part.

                Diesels are for people who like torque and power, but like the Americans say, "There is no replacement for displacement." We tend to have larger engines and high torque with low gas mileage. We have always had cheap gas up until the Bush administration. Now we are paying high prices like the other countries and on top of that the dollar is only worth $.55 as compared to pre 9-11.

                OK...Off my soapbox..

                There is only one engine for the FJ, 4.0-liter DOHC 24-valve SFI VVT-i V6
                239 hp @ 5200 rpm;
                278 lb.-ft. @ 3700 rpm

                There is a choice of 2 transmissions, 5-speed electronically controlled automatic overdrive (ECT); 6-speed manual (full-time 4WD model).

                As for the Lexus GX 470 It only comes with one engine, 4.7-liter 2UZ-FE V8. It uses the same VVT-i'' computer as the FJ Cruiser. The transmission is the same 5 speed electronically controlled one in the FJ. It does have a center locking differential as in the manual transmission FJ.

                I hope this helps

                        I think it was 2000 with the release of the diesel, that the 90's front indicators went clear, and the headlights changed from fluted glass to acrylic with freeform reflectors. I'm pretty sure that's also when the airbags became standard fitment.

                            So if someone say shopping for the Prado, they can quickly see what the difference there are between say 2004 and 2007 Prado GXL...

                                My 2001 GXL doesn't have airbags, but the other items are correct for my car

                                I've added the others, but I noticed that the rear tails light went clear in Aug 1999, perhaps the front ones did too at this time?
