Glass house mountain 4x4 Track

Saw a program that had a short trip up on a track in the Glasshouse Mountains near Brisbane. I would like to take the family for a day out and do a bit of the off-road stuff. Can anyone tell me how to get to the 4x4 track in the glass House Mountains? And is this a legal track that you are allowed to drive on. I also heard of a track near MtMee, is this a good day trip and not very difficult? Anyone able to give me directions to get to this track. Will be coming from North lakes.

There's multiple entry points to glasshouse so it's a bit hard to say which is more suitable for as the tracks up there go from mild to WILD.... if u know where to look. IF u stick to the normal formed tracks u will be right, but that might be a bit boring for u ???

Unless you have mud tires, lift and winch I wouldn't go. I went 3 weeks ago and it is just mud everywhere lots of fun but can get tricky. Don't bother with big red unless you want to be on your roof. In the 5 hours I was in there I was stuck in mud for atleast 3 hours. Was good to test out my mates new winch though but there was more mud in my car then under it by the end of it.

here are two of mine both in same bog hole. ended up pulling this clown out after his mate in a stock jeep flogged it out and he couldnt get threw. i have a video but will youtube then put a link up

Be careful with Glasshouse as DERM have leased a portion out to FPQ for forestry and they have closed certain parts. There are reports of camera's in trees and fines being handed out all ready. I would steer clear until it is clear which parts are open and which closed. If you want a drive close to that try the Bellthorpe National Park there is everything from easy to scary in there.

A nice drive is turn off the Daguilar Hwy right into Stony Ck Rd, go approx 2.5k's then right into Fletchers Rd, follow that until you come to the Stony Ck day use area, air down there, nice spot for morning tea as well, then back onto the road, turn left and follow the fork to the left.

This will take you on a nice drive through the rainforest, bit of mud nothing hard, but look out for the water filled puddle, some of them have surprise rock in the bottom. It will take you through the forest, keeping to the right is the family drive there is a left turn which is marked "moderate" but leads to what is affectionatley known as the "Slippery Slide", if wet this is a steep out of control ride.

This will eventually bring you to a tee intersection which is Bellthorpe Jimna Rd, left takes you back to Stony Ck Rd (20mins) and right to Jimna (1 hour). The track described should take about an hour with photo stops, enjoy.

My mate Adam with the black navara that came to ormeau got a winch so we used that. Once I have the video up you'll see why I didn't get threw. He has a lot better clearance from factory too mine just sat on it guts.

Beerburrum can get a bit extreme, depending on where you go. Thats one thing about a bike, if you have enough people you can manhandle it out.

I can confirm this is a definite, they have about 40 motion activated cameras in trees around the place and have already taken several drivers/riders to court. Just make sure you don't go past any "Don't go in here" signs.

Nice place to be fishing and the weather forecast is good.

From what I gather there are many roads in so an easy place to get lost. Map would be appreciated.
