  • Bridle Track S.A. Information

Just wondering if anyone has done the Bridle Track just outside Melrose in South Australia? Have found a few things on the web but nothing that gives me a clear idea if I am able to tow a camper trailer through.

Thought it might be an option as we make our way to the GTG the long way.

I have tried the search function but only get the Bridle Track near Bathurst.

Our club did a trip over to Wilmington and surrounds on the June long weekend just gone. I am pretty sure they drove the Bridle track and nobody seemed to think it was anything overly difficult, having said that no one would have been towing. I will try and remember to ask one of the guys on the trip what he thinks.

    cheers Andrew

Would recommend unhitching at one end, drive the track, u turn and go back to hook up and continue on your way. Overall time just over an hour. The track itself is not long just very steep and loose with very sharp turns!

Dry weather track only. Fairly straight forward, good view. One time we went over a Subura Outback passed us - that should give you an idea how hard it is.

Thanks for the information. Knew I could count on the PP community to help out.

In my searching I had read it was steep on the western end

Unhitching is not an option as we want to keep travelling north.

I did the Bridle Track on wednesday and I can't see any problems towing a camper over it. I would use low range and keep the speed down on desent and you should be fine. It's not loose at the moment. Good views heading west. Leave the gates as you find them too.
            Cheers, Ben

Thanks for that Ben. We will be going east to west and that works out good as it seems to be the best way to go for the scenery.
