Blue Rag in a stock 150 Yes/No

Hi All,

We are planning a weekend soon to the High country and my brother has decided that the Blue rag is a must do track.
I was wondering whether a lift and tyres are required for this track or whether I could get away with standard height and stock tyres?

Well it's been a long time since I've been there (April 2011) but based on what I saw, standard height is fine, but decent tyres would be an advantage. The last section had a lot of rocks in the ground, so I'd just be wary of punctures if the tyres are pretty average. A couple other part of the track were a *little* bit slippery, so again, decent tyres would help.

BUT.. would I give it a go with a 100% stocker? Hell yeah! I'd even take a stock soft roader, beause it's simply a fantastic track and worth the effort.

havnt done it yet, i will let you know in a few weeks :-)
from what ive heard its not that hard, if you can drive.
maybe a bit of a step or something toward the end.
i think you would be ok. i know of a Mitsushitty challenger that did it recons no problem???

Standard height will be fine, you just need to take your time and choose your lines. Lots of sharp rocks so be careful on stock tyres. It is more the gradient of the track than anything else.

I'd add a couple of points, weather permitting yes. I'd say there isn't much point going past trig point, you've had the views. But after trig point it gets a bit more tricky. Prior to trig point there is one section of steps that's pretty tight and very steep, but if you take your time and pick your line, it's not too bad. This picture doesn't do it justice but...

It funny you read some magazines and it seems you need a lift kit to mount a gutter :-)

Looks like my first scratch may be only a few weeks away appreciate the feedback I feel much more comfortable.

Just check the weather before you hit the tracks, if it is fine you'll be fine. If it is wet you have some fun

I would recommend some off road tyres if the track is going to be wet, but overall you should be fine. I recall the last hill upto the "carpark" at the end was steep.

Lol, I'll let my mate know you said that. Btw it has 2 inch lift, it bottomed out most of the way up.

Hell yes, one of the mags (Overlander I think?) took a stock Amarok up Blue Rag. If a VW can, a stock Prado will do it easy.
