yeah i was thinking the best place to hide it would be somewhere that you didn't post on the internet , for all to see , so they can work out where a key might be hidden . lets not share tooooooooo much on this subject eh , just for those of us that are not of middle eastern appearance .

Perhaps all PP members should have their cars keyed alike so if we see one we can just take it for a ride similar to the gas bottle swap and go system. I would like to pick up one in Cairns next August for my Cape trip!!2004,GXL V6 Auto. We have been doing this forever (friends and family) Because where we usually travel in our trucks we're pretty far away from home and losing a key or having the alarm go nuts or whatever in the bush can be a bit of an inconvenience.
We never travel alone, and we ALWAYS give a spare key(transponder ones) and alarm remote to another car on the convoy. Everybody has at least two sets of keys (normal + spare on another car). In my family we have the practice of having regular copies of every car's key made (non-transponder) and strapping them somewhere under the car, it is there at all times. That way, if you manage to lock the car with the keys inside you can open it.
So we always travel with three sets of keys when going to the bush, and have a spare on at all times.
A cousin of mine has a JK Wrangler and he has this little magnetic box he keeps a key in, he has it stuck somewhere in the engine bay since he can open it without keys. Thought it was pretty nifty, a lot cleaner than having a key zip-tied to the chassis...

2 ways we do it
We have a 120 series and toyota actually gave us a key with no electronic it will open the doors star the car and also open the glove box so i take that swimming
Another way i used to do it with electronic key only was lock vehicle and hide keys in gooseneck of Haymen Resse towbar and then i had one of those locable pins and i used to take the key to that in the water"Drive down that track really fast, if something gets in your way turn"

Never mind hiding the spare key, you're more likely to have your Prado stolen by some thieving bastard that will come into your house and get the keys off the kitchen bench where you always leave them in full view. That's how most cars are taken these days.Dave

Seems to be easy in the 150. I tested it on mine. You can leave the fob in the centre console and then lock it with the removable key. It seems to know the fob's inside rather than out so you can't open the doors. That's without shielding it. Then you can attach the removable key to your swimmers.

Double layer of aluminium foil blocks the wireless from the key fob. Then can lock and unlock with emergnecy key in fob and leave fob inside the car. Emergency key goes with me in wettie.
