Evakool have their seconds on their website for eskies (poly & fibreglass) as well as their fridges, solar panels, accessories, etc. I've got a 70L poly & 25L poly esky (The IceKool blue one) from their seconds shop, and they're awesome. I had an issue with one leaking, and they replaced it with a brand new one (not a seconds!) with no questions asked. You can't beat that kind of service

I've been looking at these for a while and had a look on their online seconds shop. Just picked up a 60lt IceKool for $99 (delivered to Melb $126 in total). Retail is somewhere around the $250.

Very happy with that result. The missus can keep the 40lt Waeco for her salads and I'll use the IceKool for beer and fishing.

I couldn't make up my mind between the Bunnings Batlight or the Retro Lantern.

After Rogerthatv2 posted the Ray's special on the Coleman I had a bit of time spare, so I went to have another look at both. Still couldn't decide and given the great price at Ray's, I got both

Both great lights, I was really pleasantly surprised with the quality and light output of the Batlight. Plus it is so compact when folded up, I am going to keep it in the back fulltime - not happy though, it only misses out by a bee's ....... from fitting inside the hatch on the rear door!

Only drama I can see with the Coleman is that it really is a big unit and will take up a bit of packing room.

            Rob

I had a Spinifex 12v Re-chargable Lantern and was good whilst it worked - but I only got about 12 months out of it. The battery failed pretty quickly and I wouldn't buy one again.
Generally for around camp I use a couple of the cheap 12v re-charge workights from SCA, and also a half decent 12v Fluoro (not re-charge) for the kitchen.

I have a Waeco ice box and I have to say it works very well for the price, holds ice for days! Also we run 2 of the Coleman Retro rechargeable lanterns, expensive yes but the 2 settings and night light feature won us over, came with a handy storage / protection bag as well. They seem to last for ages.
              Cheers Dan
Thanks Dan (and all the others as well) ,
I am going shopping tomorrow. As a matter of interest, was this the coleman you got?

It is very well priced on special but it seems only to get 9 hours per charge.

This LED Coleman seems a little bit more expensive but has a huge run time of 86 hours
              http://www.bcf.com.au/online-store/p...d=224849#Cross

Thanks, will check both out tomorrow.

              Re the icebox
This video is a good summary of the differences between poly and fibreglass boxes.

That's about right when you run it on high. We run ours on low which is more than sufficient, and it easily lasts for a weekend trip!

I went to pick up the Coleman light at Rays that you posted Craig but they were all sold out at the Mt Gravatt store.
But I did get a Batlight as well from Bunnings. What a fantastic light for $27. Very bright Leds (250 lumens) and folds open to various angles. With the magnets on the back it sticks to various places on the prado, especially good underneath, underbonnet etc, it also has a torch, hook to hang on and comes with 12volt and 240 volt chargers. It folds up very small and easy to pack. Its already permanently in the Prado....

Those Coleman retro lanterns as per above are on special at Anaconda for members for $49.99 ($70 off) from wed 13th - Sun 17th.
I picked one up the other week and impressed with its light output. But be warned it is rather big and heavy.

                        cheers

We use ARB rechargeable fluro. Relatively small, great light output and supplied with 240 & 12 volt rechargers. Can be attached parallel or right angles via strong magnets or hung from folding hook. Small enough to carry permantly under seat of car for emergency use and better than a torch for watching out for 'Joe Blakes' while walking due to flood nature of beam. Doubles (triples??) as a workshop light.
BTW no lover of ARB gear/service in recent years but this suits us and works well.

Doubles (triples??) as a workshop light. Have tried a couple of different brands of lantern which were bulkier and had less light output than the ARB. Still carry a corded 12 volt fluro as spare but now don't have the worry of tripping over the cord which only seems to be a problem later in the evening
