  • Toyota being cheeky and trying to get more money

Hey guys, off topic and not to do with my prado, but just picked up the misuses Hyundai from its service (serviced by Toyota workshop as they sell Hyundai aswel) and they advised that the front wheels are on their last legs and will need replacing, very kindly offered to do it......... Well I was a bit sus to say the least, the car is only 30k old (2yrs) and I'm as religious with this car as my prado.

Well so I decided to have a gander at the front wheels when they brought it around only to find that the front wheels aswel as the back wheels are in a as new condition, heaps of tread on all four tyres. I then advised that they need to test all workshop guys for drugs as they are clearly on some good ones, his comment, oh they might just be earring on the side of caution....... Yea right! Just laughed at him. I guess it just pays to be vigilant and if they can make easy money from an unsuspecting person they probably would succeede.

Yea I would say so! Bloody cheeky I tell you! Wonder how many people they screw over with this. Will ring up the manager tomorrow and make a complaint. Same with my brake pads with the prado, was told they need replacing, pulled off the wheels to find the fronts are at about 80%. I'm always sceptical at the best of times with genuine service places like Toyota

this is unlike toyota, they normally have better things to do than do a tyre that doesnt need replacing.

          musnt have had much work...

And with tyres, never go with them always go to a tyre outlet, you will get a better deal, plus I don't trust they would do it tight. They also charged for windscreen detergent, even when I asked for no sundry charges other than the service, and they didn't even do it, the washer bottle is 3/4 empty. Tomorrow will be an interesting phone call

The way I see it, it is the actions of certain staff at a Toyota dealership that is in question, as opposed to Toyota itself. And its not being "cheeky" its being downright dishonest. There seems to be incredible variation in service depending on the particular dealership. Please don't get me started on Toyota dealership dealings, I can write a couple of pages about the bullsh*t you can be told by certain toyota dealership staff, and it has left we wary and careful about any of my dealings. The message here is check everything, be cautious, get second opinions and don't always believe what you are told....I don'y ever get "extras" on the services anymore. In fact, when you drop yor car off for a service I give a written list of what is and what isn't to be done. And if you can, get a look at the apperwork they have already printed out before you get teh servcie done...sometimes it already has "extra's" written on it...I just ask for a look when they check your phone number, and cross things off their list.

Another issue I have, is when you get back the dealership service report and it says, "check park brake and adjust if necessary",,,etc etc...so did they adjust it or didn't they...its not specific, you actually don't know what isor isn't done on many items.

To true mate, going to have some fun tomorrow, I get sick and tired of seeing people get screwed over. Hence why I'm always sceptical when I get told things, especially when they are going to cost you money. I guess if we can just help get the message to the less informed to make sure they don't take service centres words for things and get a second opinion, if we can help save even one person from getting ripped off them we are winning in a small way

Haha! Yea usually the service manager deals with me cause they don't like me running rampant like I tend to do, this fella was one I've never seen before. If ya want a fun show by all means ;-)
