bonnet mounted spare

Gday folk,s, couldn,t quite get the ph out quick enough to get a piccie unfortunately, wish i,d had, black 120 series in sunny coast today all decked out as a tourer, had a spare mounted to the bonnet like the old school landy,s. Looked trick on this rig that had obviously done some hard yards. Never seen any series with this setup before, anyone got 1? seen 1?, be genuinely curious as to the mods needed, have to strengthen up the bonnet or arms i,d assume?. Something different i thought i,d share anyway.

didn't think the 120 bonnet was strong enough to hold a spare on it without bending ?

Bonnet strength or lack of acknowledged, but it would be a great spot for it! Would free up the back door or roof I,d imagine!,?! Keen to hear more!

I parked next to a land rover with a bonnet mounted spare the other day and wondered how it would look on the prado. But reckon you would need to do a fair amount of work to make it happen.

Apart from the bonnet strength, the width of the tyre is an issue.

It's going to impede a lot of vision. Those old landys had narrow tyres...

How do you get the tyre onto the bonnet without Sliding it across / Scratching it across onto the mount

and where do you put the bonnet scoop that we all want to add

not to mention it makes the bonnet damn heavy to lift up, couldn't use the gas struts would need to put a prop up one. My old landy was a pain to lift the bonnet with the tyre on it. Look great but a pain.
