This really annoys me. I know of several cars that have been taken recently up here. One was 4 minutes after the owners left, busted in, stole the keys and a some valuables and drove off. Bastards. Hope it all works out for you.

My brother lives in Cleveland and same thing happened 2 months ago although it was his motorbike. Last known whereabouts was the photo taken of the bike on the logan motorway heading towards Ipswich!!!!! - The low lifes out there.

He had to pay the toll or get fined.

My Prado keys stay in the bedside table beside me when I am sleeping, hidden under other things that will make a noise if anyone opens it, and I am a very light sleeper. The keys are hidden if the Prado stays home and I am out without it (not too often)

Glad you got your Prado back.

We've been broken into before - whilst we were asleep. It wasn't a pleasant experience. It didn't all go the crooks way as I caught him in our driveway as he re-entered the house. Enough said. From that point on, I always take all my keys with me to work. Never help them out or present opportunities for them.

Sorry to hear that your car was stolen but good news to hear that it was found . My 120 was stolen 2 yrs ago from outside my house then parts of it were found 18 months later in Perth . Another 120 was stolen from Qld , taken to Perth and the two of them were rebirthed but the cops busted them .
I had a good chat with a copper from the motor squad about this theft and he reckoned that they must have used a tilt tray to take my car . Blowed if I know how they managed to do that outside my house as it's a very quite neighbourhood . Maybe they rolled it down the street and put it on a tilt tray around the corner ? These days it's parked in a very difficult spot where it can't be rolled away .
I'd like to investigate a seperate immobilizer arrangement , maybe a fuel cutoff . I'm told that statistics show that 70% of car thefts are by amateurs kids etc and 30% is by the pro's . I'd reckon that the kids wouldn't bother if you've got something to slow them down like a club lock as they could go for another one that's easier but the pro's.....if they want it they'll get it one way or another .
                Cheers Ross
Tojo sidestepped the issue when I questioned them re the effectiveness of the alarm and immobilizer etc .

Glad you got your Prado back, never nice when something of yours is stolen but I'd never recommend the above!

I have an upgraded alarm integrated with the factory one on my 150 (movement/jacking detection, glass breakage, bonnet opening)

A bit far for you to drive brooksy (to Sydney) but there should be a decent alarm shop over your way. Look for one that has what I have mentioned (and more), will set you back several hundred dollars. Don't buy a cheap alarm, you get what you pay for.

And I don't use the buttons on the alarm fob to unlock/lock the doors, I only grab the door handles or press the button on the back door. This way is so that any crook sitting in a nearby car cannot scan the electronic frequency of my alarm fob. The signal from the alarm fob can travel 100 metres or so.

Unfortunately Mongoose is only good for the post 2009 and I'm a 2004. Looks like it means extra fobs...
