    Small world Steve.

I grew up about 800 metres from you in Nolan Crescent Westmead, just off Hawkesbury Rd, and my sister still lives in Lytton St off Fullagar rd.

      • Steve,

Well done mate, no one treats a Prado like that and gets away with it..

Gotta say mate as bad as it was with your pride and joy being treated like, the Prado handled those speed humps really well.

        Steve

        ps
Would love to see a photo of how you had the camera mounted, as Im looking at doing the same.

You keep saying Steve should have received compensation. What would have been fair compensation?

Driver tied to a chair and time alone in a locked room,d be about right, or at least a face to face explanation and apology from said driver + a discount, maybe even a reacharound to sweeten the deal.

            Cheers

Whatever it takes to remove the bitter taste from his mouth. Personally at the VERY LEAST i'd want the install labour cost refunded, and probably a little something extra to keep me happy. If it was my store in this situation his suspension parts and install would be completely free. Basicly whatever you have to do to make the customer walk out your door a happy camper. It may seem excessive but after a stuffup that big you need to take a big step to fix it. That's good business.

              Cheers

              • Gotta remember too that with the anti-hooning laws a customer could lose his pride and joy for 3 months if the mechanic gets caught out by the cops. A case in WA a few years back a doctor lost his Ferrari or similar cos the mechanic got carried away. He applied to the courts to get it back as he was the innocent party but the law was the law and he failed. Not sure if it’s the same here. So need to weed this behaviour out.

                • Very happy to hear you informed the police of this Steve. My bloody was starting to boil when it seemed you had let this bloke and his mechanic off scott free. Thankfully you reconsidered and took your evidence to the police.

Bailey84 - If that was a vehicle of ours, id expect a full refund minimum and wouldn't let it go until that was done.

                  • Yeah got grease coming out the rubber boot on the passengers side shaft. Have cleaned it down 3 times and still seems to be seeping out the end of the rubber boot. Doesn't look like its been damaged so not sure why its seeping out but wasn't before it was touched, was dry as a bone. Looks like there is some sort of clamp or some thing right on the end of the boot, not sure if I can just take this off and put a cable tie on it or this some special clamp ?? [IMG][/IMG] So friggin over this lift, pissing me off and I really don't want to take it back to them but then why should I now have to pay for some one else to fix their stuff ups........Cheers Steve

                      • Is the boot intact?

Back in the day on my '88 Dodge Lancer, had a similar thing happen. Luckly, like you caught it early. Being a poor lad, I used some of the old man's "Bell Helicopter Tail Rotor" grease and pretty much loaded the boot up. 2 zip ties later, nary a leak.

Got 5 years out of it, then the whole shaft had to be replaced.

If it were me, I'd go for a proper repair and send the bill back to the people that trashed your ride.

                        • Hi Steve
                          wow that camera is something
you did the right thing handing the footage to police not sure what will come of it unless you have definite proof of who was driving. I hope you do.
for the owner to sack the guy its not that easy due to work place laws the most he can really do is give him a written warning
for Steve to not name and shame and no refund you must ok with the outcome after discussions with the owner.
most people who would use them are local and like myself can recognise from the footage who they are and I wont use them after seeing this.
those speed humps are fairly flat many year back when I was young and dumb I would hit them doing 100k plus trying to get air and never did!
                          Good luck Steve

                          • Hi Pete, wouldn't say I was ok with the outcome as nothing really was done by the owner except for a sorry and he was embarrassed, there wasn't much of a discussion except me seeing red and saying a few choice words and he wouldn't let me even speak to the guy was all on CD that I handed to him to watch the footage. There was more then just what I put on here also, riding the brakes trying to launch it from a standstill before hitting the same speed humps on his way back out.. Wether the bloke got any warnings etc I have no idea, he was still there when I went back to get the nuts tightened up. The cops said even though the camera didn't show the driver, I have receipt with the boss's signature on it (which I demanded he sign before I left the store or I would have called the cops there and then) stating the vehicle was in their care between certain times. The cops said this was a smart move as they can then use this as proof it was in there care at the time and they then must determine who was driving the vehicle or big fine apparently. Havnt heard anything except they sent me an event number...and the name of the constable that I reported it to.... Probably still ongoing I suppose....Cheers Steve

                            • Steve there was a post some time ago linking too high a lift at the front with leaking CV boots because of the extreme angle the CV is spinning through. Where is the front at now? If the boot is intact tightening the clamp or a replacement clamp will stop leakage but only if the height is down to a reasonable level otherwise it will keep doing it. Have you lost much grease?

If the fitter is a TJM shop just ring head office and find someone to talk to, they should take responsibility and send you to another shop for repairs.

                              • Measured it yesterday and from the bottom of the lip of rim to the start of the guard going straight up through the centre is 800 on the front and 830 rear. Not sure why I only got 805 on rear before maybe the way it was parked. I checked the 800 and 830 both on the road and in my garage. To be honest the cv angles look really good and the drivers side one if fine no leaks at all. My mate did say that maybe the lift as upset it and just go and get the clamp that goes on the end of the boot, cut the old one off and put a new one on and should be ok ?? I will ring Toyota tomorrow and see if I can order just the clip, hope fully I can.........Cheers Steve
