When i worked at ARB we drove the car like a normal person. the trip back from the tire shop was enough to see if the suspension was in tacked and i don't even remember getting a car over 3000 revs uphill.
There was a day that I was road testing a snorkel and swerved onto a nature strip to avoid a running over a freshly spilled painters tin of fluro green paint. I put a small dent and scratch in this guys new front rim from the curb.
the moment he pulled up I ran over and told him what i had done and why. and told him i personally would pay for the rim to be repaired and a wheel aliment for him. He looked and said that the snorkel looked great, the rim looked like it probably would once his wife drove it, the car was probably due for an alignment so not to worry.
On top of that wanted to shout me a beer for not getting lime green paint all over the car..
Its not hard to look after someones car when your working on it.

Steve,
May be a problem with the evidence of the camera recording of the speed, in that the device is not an approved or certified speed recorder, such as a Highway Patrol radar unit or a fixed speed camera, unless the cops interview the driver and he admits guilt.
A smart defence solicitor or barrister will argue the above point, though there is still the manner of the driving.
Not trying to deflate your case of extreme anger/disappointment/revenge (I would be f***ing pissed off as well), just giving you a realistic view of what may or may not happen.
Dave.

Yea it's one I left to the cops. If need be they can time how long it took from one speed hump to the other using the time indicated on video which would also require them to go out to the location and start measuring things up etc. I can't imagine they will do that ??? Think they're got better things to do with there time. If some one had been hit then I imagine it would be a totally different situation. At least hopefully they will give him a kick in the ar#e and shake him up a bit so he doesn't end up killing himself or some one else.... Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet

A clever 'smart ass' layer could measure the distance between two points in the film and work out the speed the old way. But yes, whilst there is doubt as to the accuracy I think with 40km over it would be easy to prove in court he was reckless at the minimum.
Better than no evidence at all, I'd say it did what you wanted it too Steve, made one mechanic rethink his driving practices in the future (or at least look for the camera).

Regardless of that, a Magistrate of reasonable standing (not one of the trendy types that thinks everyone is innocent) can make an informed decision with the dash cam recording and come to a good result for yourself.
The problem with these voice recordings is that you cannot record and use the conversation of another person (in NSW and most other States) without the permission of that person, if the recording is going to be used in evidence in a Court. Covered under the Listening Devices Act. There are a couple of exceptions to that, one of them being the video/audio recordings used by Highway Patrol cops. You are informed by the cops that your conversation is being recorded, however, even if you do object to that, the conversation is still recorded and used in court.

Everything is not just black and white, and a good lawyer will provide a decent argument to the Magistrate, however, Magistrates have different interpretations of the law and some will not be swayed by anyone.

Can't remember the cost but I had the CV boots replaced - I don't think it was overly expensive.
Being rubber and likely to have perished somewhat, I don't think putting a new clamp would fix it.NOW FOR SALE!!! - 2004 Silver GXL 3lt 4spd Auto - ARB Bullbar, Safari Snorkel, Redarc Dual Battery System, Cooper ST MAXX, Dark Tint, IPF900XS spots, Raised Bilstein/Kings Suspension/Firestone Airbags, Autosafe Cargo Barrier, Sandgrabbers, Rola Roof Rack Stuff, Insect Screen, Dust/Wind Deflectors, Sheepskin/Black Duck Seatcovers, GME TX3510, ARB underbonnet compressor, Allied Hammer Rims, ARB UVP, AJ Sliders
