Don't take it the wrong way as i do shop around for lots of savings/ sales , but i dont have fly buys .
I only shop at the major supermarkets( coles and woolies ) when i need to , and thats the 15 items or less

I dont like the fuel discount system, and prefer to get my fuel from caltex. or 7 eleven to spite 'Em

Dapto is nearly the dearest suburb for fuel in the illawarra ( Wollongong )
,any way and at 150l a fill they can jam there 3 x 2ltr
bottles of milk, as they burnt the dairy industry to obtain that free milk in the first place, but on tv...
I have to sit thro countless commercials on how the majors are supporting farmers...

I'll go to tassie and happy to pay for 98 well above what you think is a good rate...

the norm for me here is $1.72 / l of 98 with minor variations, and I'm happy to fill her up but not a t their servo's,

on the other side my partner has to fill the house with groceries, and bounces for a bargain between the two, uses fly buys and fuel dockets to save herself anything she can

she even bulk buys if they promote a discounted product... i hate it,,,, between me and you boys... Australia is going down the tube

    Cheers butane

    • I have just come back from a trip. I paid $1.60p/l for petrol at the small Shell servo at North Haven, NSW. I thought I better fill up as it was the day the news broke about fuel shortages due to that fleet of tankers being taken off the road.

We drove to Port Macquarie. Coles servo was selling at $1.68. I had a 4c discount voucher with me. My partner finally understood why I never bother with the "discount" system offered by Coles and woolworths.

      • Diesel Caltex Vortex $1.80 per litre for the privilege of buying it in Broome. I'll take the 8c a litre discount when putting 160 odd litres in last fill.

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.

        • Filled up tonight at $1.47p/l for regular unleaded before any discounts, spent $20 on groceries and handed in my 4c voucher so got 14c off per litre. Tank wasn't empty, only got 101 litres in there so discount all up was $14. Actually the groceries were more like $27 at their normal shelf price but picked some 3 for $5 type items which bought that spend down. I reckon $27 worth of munchies for $6 is a pretty good deal, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. That deal ends on the 5th March so probably won't be around next time I need to fill up.

Yep, I have a chuckle to myself and think of Tom Price when people insist that another brand of fuel is the only one to use, I guess you could drive to Port Headland if you want a choice

                    Cheers Andrew

                      • So do the fuel discount dockets apply to diesel and premium unleaded as well? I've never thought to ask at the servo.

Certainly for diesel, I presume to premium as well.

                          • OK, will ask next time I go to the servo. I have always only used 91 octane in my Prados, never tried 95 or 98.

                            • I use 98 octane in my Guzzi, but at 15L for a fill price really isn't that important.

                              Cheers Andrew

Same for my Triumph and I never use the throttle in a way that is considerate of conserving fuel. No point really. However, I do remember the days when I could fill the bike and get change from a tenner. :???:
