I don't know what has started all this, but as a new member to this forum I can say that the information I've found has been great.

It's a shame there has been so many threads started recently that seem to to go the wrong way.

To those of you that are obviously still upset over something, let me say that the contributions of shared information and experiences are fantastic.

I'm trying to contribute what I can, but as a newbie I still rely on the veterans to share their wisdom and knowledge.

So thank you for what you have contributed and I hope you will continue to share.

Not being able to edit posts beyond two days is an issue for keeping the Suspension Database up to date. Although amts has kindly offered to do any updates on my behalf, the hassle of doing so may mean I won't bother keeping it up to date. Same goes for the rig build thread I started, it won't make much sense without a first post index, so I probably won't bother continuing with it.

Just being honest, if it becomes too difficult then it's easier to just not bother. Not to mention that I prefer to do things myself rather than to beg someone else to do it for me. "Please Mr Mod, can you change my post?" Sorry, just not my style.

Edit: To the person that gave me negative rep for this post, be aware that your negative rep was more than out weighed by the positive rep I received for the exact same words

JKAF, I agree with what you have said. It is hard as a new member to feel useful to the forum but we all do it in our own ways. Or try to any way and think we do good. I agree there has been a few what I would term useless threads but I ignore them and read what I want.
That is what we in the western world value as freedom. The ability to write and or read something as we wish. With a few limitations thrown in as to decency and taste. To have that all taken away from you because some one does not like it is wrong. Down right wrong. Also to have one person dictate as to how or when you can post and what you do with any item you have written is wrong. I do not agree with deleting post but you should be able to edit and control the items you have written as you see fit.
If I wanted to be treated like an child I would go to uni or join the army again. People should be aloud to start and comment on threads as long as they are not offensive or a double up of another thread. If you do not like the thread then do not read any more of it and ignore it.

I am sorry for this. But I think this has gone to far.

Did any of the last posters bother to read post #7??

It is not our intention to keep this in play permanently and we are looking at options to return it to full time editing.
Unfortunately as of the damage that was being done by members that are now on a very lengthy holiday, this had to be put in place..
In regards to some recieving negative reputation.. Its obvious that a lot of false positive reputation is shared amongst certain people.. (Yes I see the logs, so dont deny it involves you..) So receiving neg for what members find your post, is somewhat truthful in the eyes of the point giver I would feel, and shouldnt be complained about..
You cant please all the people all the time, and guaranteed certain post types will get you negatives.. thats life..

Still going thru things, but some of you might like to read the FAQ of the board..

              Particuarly:

Editing and Deleting your PostsCan I edit or delete my posts?

If you have registered and are logged in, you may be able to edit and delete your posts (although the administrator may have turned off this option). Your ability to edit your posts may be time-limited, depending on how the administrator has set up the forum.

To edit or delete your posts, click the Edit Post button by the particular post. If your post was the first in the thread, then deleting it may remove the entire thread.

Once you've made your modifications, a note may appear to inform other users that you have edited your post.

If the edit time and date appear as a link you can click on this to see the differences between the original and edited versions, or between edits if there have been multiple edits.

              Can others edit my posts?

Administrators and moderators may also edit your messages. If they do, there may not be a note telling other users that the post was modified.

In that case why don't we just do away with the rep system then? Easy fixed!

Constructive feedback is one thing, using the system to be nasty while hiding behind the anonymous rep system is another.

The rep system is exactly as it is, anon.. if it is decided to be given away, it will be chosen at an admin level, as it was when I introduced it.

Good help/post/etc will obtain you "truthful" positive rep.. Bad posts or ones that inflame people will gain you Negative rep.

Of course as stated before, a large number of members are bouncing positive rep off each other with little comments that make it obvious its to boost the little green squares.. all there in the logs..
Also curious as to the comments on certain "reps" and the "egging" on of trouble making or borderline posts.

Already in last couple hours 3 pages of "rep" have been listed on this thread alone, with some interesting comments egging on what we would deem as "borderline" troublemaking posts..

                  FYI as well.
Moderator choosing has been delayed due to having to deal with all of this other "stuff" now..

I note that the majority of my rep has now been taken away so are you now saying it was all false?

Has it? Perhaps pm me and I will have a look after I have finished dealing with this thread and choosing new mods and the false rep that is going around.

FIIK! Considering I have no 'friends'on this forum, I'm guessing your refering to someone ive unknowingly upset? Considering I haven't attempted to do that... they can harden up.

Again, gotta be blunt with me. Lol

Another forum I'm a member of employs to systems. A "like" button and a Rep system. When we agree with someones post no matter what it regards, we "like" that post. It also shows on the post who has liked. You can unlike but you cant dislike.

Then when it comes to informative/technical posts we give good/neutral/bad rep.

That way it becomes pretty easy to see who is abusing it and who isn't.
