An ARB Bull Bar is Born

Typically they get pre-release vehicles. I know ARB had Y62 gear for over a year before it was released in AU so they could supply the overseas market.Originally posted by M3R View PostDoes ARB receive details drawings from Toyota ahead of/at launch so you can design mods to existing bar asap. That was a good video Sam but just a few questions:
1. I noticed the winch is fitted with a synthetic rope with a roller rope guide being used which is designed for steel wire rope. Correct me if I am wrong but I was advised that synthetic rope can get pinched using these guides.
2. Why aren't the mounting bolts for the chassis / bull bar not torqued instead of using a rattle gun? and
3. When is ARB going to provide a sealed LED replacement for the clearance / indicator assembly because it's a pain to replace a globe because water has got in and or contaminates? I have looked everywhere with no luck becasue the lights ARB use are 150mm wide not 200mm.

So I dare say you have documentation to prove said testing was done and the results thereof, etc to back up the information the sticker refers to.Originally posted by AJ120 View PostActually the sticker does satisfy the compliance issue so long as it has the correct information, which no doubt ARB's does. I have just been through all this for my rear bar!
Cheers Andrew
This is what I'm asking of the good people at ARB. So far the silence is deafening.

Yes I have a full engineers report to back it up.Originally posted by Beach View PostSo I dare say you have documentation to prove said testing was done and the results thereof, etc to back up the information the sticker refers to.

As for the silence being deafening, you asked the question last night, Sam probably doesn't work 24/7, I am sure he can help you with the info you need if your patient.

Roller fairleads are actually better for synth rope. Hawse fairleads generate heat when the rope rubs on the fairlead, rollers prevent heat build up, heat & UV kill synth ropers. If synth rope can get pinched so can wire rope, personally I have never seen it. Obviously you need your rollers to be free from cuts/knicks etc.Originally posted by winniliss View PostThat was a good video Sam but just a few questions:

D4D is right. Roller fairleads can be used with synthetic rope however, as D4D points out, it's very important to ensure they're free from nicks and abrasions which may cause issues with the rope. Nylon rollers are available as an option which can help reduce this. Or, Hawse fairleads are also available. Great video, I really like seeing this type of stuff. What's interesting is the high level of hands on manufacturing - keeping the unemployment rate down

Completely agree with you on that one VXWesty - it surprised me how many people were involved in the process and the choice of robot v. human welding for certain aspects.Originally posted by VXWesty View PostWhat's interesting is the high level of hands on manufacturing - keeping the unemployment rate down

OK in relation to question one it depends on the roller type fairlead you have. Some have bigger gaps between the vertical and horizontal roller so when the synthetic rope flattens out under load (steel wire rope doesn't do this) it may get caught. Also need to make sure the rollers are not seized and burred.Originally posted by winniliss View PostThat was a good video Sam but just a few questions:

Sam you forgot to answer question 2 and 3. With question 2 is it a requirement to torque these bolts or will a rattle gun suffice?
With question 3 I am looking at discarding the plastic molding and making my own mounting bracket for the lights (I don't use fog lights) so 1, I can remove the light from the front of the bar if required instead of removing the plate underneath which is a time consuming and two person job and 2 I can fit more common size light assembly.

Hi Winston, yes, all of the mounting bolts come with recommended torque values. In order to keep the length down, we didn't show every step of the install in the video but the rattle gun is used to get the mounts in place. They're then adjusted to the recommended torque.Originally posted by winniliss View PostSam you forgot to answer question 2 and 3. Re the lights, an LED parker/indicator option is being worked on at the moment. We'll have more info available on this when it's released.

ARB have dropped the ball on this (LED) issue. Other manufacturers have been fitting the LED parker/turn lamps for a few years now. I've got a set of LED for my ARB bar but have been thinking of welding up the fog light/indicator/turn light hole completely in order to flush fit the LEDs. You could save me the work!Originally posted by ARB 4X4 Accessories View PostRe the lights, an LED parker/indicator option is being worked on at the moment.Dave

As Bushbasher has stated this has been an issue for years. This needs to be sorted sooner rather than later.Winston.
