I didn't think anyone would see that and it would appear it is an exhaust off a prime mover however that is not the case. I was getting a lot of diesel soot on the trailers and because they are yellow it would stand out. I would spend hours of washing the trailers as a result so I just made up an exhaust extension and that's what you can see in the photo...

Got flagged down in my 90 Series Diesel Auto by a truckie once on the way to town at a (gravel) truck stop....
"Mate, can you give me a tow start? The batteries Flat!"

I looked at him, I looked at his rig, I looked at him....

"Shouldn't be a problem, the trailers empty!" He said

I looked at him, I looked at his rig, I looked at him....

Anyway, he had the chain already out so we hooked it up to the tow bar, & we agreed on how to proceed with the help of the UHF.
Firstly I took up the slack in the chain, then proceeded to put the foot down. Not much result....all four wheels spinning in the gravel & very little forward momentum. These damn things are heavy!
He let the clutch out & even with the peddle firmly planted, all forward momentum stopped instantly. We were stationary once again.
I suggested he waited a tad longer, perhaps 5 or even 6 km/h before letting the clutch out.
We tried again, this time I selected low range & 2nd start.....the smell of burning rubber was in the air!

Gave it another bootful, & the truckie to his credit waited a tad longer this time....4,5 6km/h....7, 8 ....whoah 10km/h , then I felt the trucks clutch kick in....We ground to a halt again thinking the worst!

Over the radio I heard, "All good, thanks Mate" as the truck had come to life.
Anyway the kids & wife enjoyed the exercise anyway....not something you do usually on the way to town.

            Cheers
            Richard

That's a pretty good effort, even empty a semi is likely to be nudging 15 tonne or even more.

              Cheers Andrew

I don't know if any of you guys driven through compacted spring snow for 100km. if you did that, you would wish you would tow a loaded tractor than to plowed through snow. i know how it is and it ends up in transmission and front end rebuild...
