    • Register Date Factor
The number of reputation points that a user is able to give or take is dependant on several factors, with the length they have been registered as one of them. A user's power is first initialized at 1 and then this factor and the factors that follow are used to increase it. For example if you set this to 365, every 365 days that the user has been a member of your forum, they would gain one point. So if they have been a member for five years, they would gain 5 points of power for a total of 6.
    • Post Count Factor
The amount of posts that a user has can also affect their reputation power. Set this to number of posts that you want to award one point for. For example, set this to 50 and for a user with 500 posts, they would gain 10 points of power.
    • Reputation Point Factor
The users current reputation score can also affect their reputation power. Set this to 100 and a user with a reputation of 1000 would gain 10 points of reputation power. If you set any of the power factors to 0, that will effectively remove that factor from having an effect on the user's reputation power.
    • Minimum Post Count
If the reputation system is enabled, anyone will be able to rate a post but only users with a post count above the level you set here will be able to actually give points or take points from another user.
    • Minimum Reputation Count
As with the post count above, a user must have a reputation above this level to be able to give or take points from another user's score.
Another very useful post by amts Andrew, now that's someone who I can see why they have green lights piled up. Good work!
Sorry if this causes you any grief Andrew, but I have had my sook, & prepared to accept being ripped off.
It has not cost me anything :-)
You and Matty do a ripper job here not only as mods but also with the information you provide to the members.
I just want to learn to be more like you guys.

    Thank you.

The log will reveal whether points were given to a particular post legitimately or just mere padding of points.

Just to further clarify, Anthony... that when a person gives positive rep, they have reputation power that is dependent on those bullet points I mentioned above. The reputation power can be 100 points per positive rep - depending on how long they have been a member, how many posts they have and how many rep points they currently have. It does not mean that if you have gained 1000 points that 1000 people have given you positive reps. It could be just 10 people with 100 rep power.

Yes, I understand that, I noticed the more green they have the more points it gives you.
Eg; a one green light might give you 10 pt. a 8 green light person might give you 80 pts.
          Thankx.

I think what the others are saying is, who decides if the point giving Is worthy other than the giver?
Eg, bob gives me a legitimate positive rep & then bob goes silly, mods step in & remove all the points they gave even though there were many legitimate ones in their.

Anyway, to save you any further grief, as I said I can handle it, just wanted to mention it, sookylala :-)

In closing I'd say, it was not only my opinion alone about this & some other overdoing it by the head, head kicker....
& the emails & texts since I started this thread shows even more support.
The important thing to remember is, when one person speaks up there is often many many more that feel the same that wont speak up.

Enough said, moving on to more positive threads.

Yeah! I want my rep rereviewed too! Someone gave me bad rep because they think I'm part of klc (still unsure what it is) and called me an insulting name in it! Don't think that helpful to the forum...Please don't assimilate me to the klc when I don't even have a clue what the hell it is. ...everytime I ask, no one answers that one. lol

That rep was left by an ex member ranj, and for the record it has "0" points against it as they had nil reputation power.

Yes ranj, more "club mentality" I think is the answer....

                    #### and I have exchanged pm's and discussed.

In regards to his points, there was a lot of padding being thrown around by some current and ex members, that don't need to be named. This was not fair to all members, as it showed very unrealistic rep levels on people that hadn't genuinely earnt them.

Upon sorting out the points to be accurate and realistic, I hadn't clicked onAnth's total calculations, hence a somewhat lower score than it was meant to be.. Eg, he had in fact just over 700 points, ( added up again by calculator tonight to confirm) but his score was still sitting at 322..
My bad it seems, but going thru dozens of points recipients, some mistakes I guess are going to be made. " I'm only bovine"..
All is corrected now, and sorted,, fido I think yours was exactly the same, and yours is a truer rep now too.

At the end of the day if giving rep, ask yourself: " would I expect a pat on the back for what I'm scoring if I had done this."

                    <edited due to member complaint>

Not, old mate cracked a funny, or belittled someone on the forum ( cyber bullying etc) and they get positive rep points in return by their mates..

As #### said,I think this one has again played itself out.. Move forward ppl..

If anyone else notices anomalies or it appears they have miscalculated points, pm me and I can check logs to confirm..

I think I've mentioned before that what could be helpful is two different systems. The reputation system and the "Like/Dislike" system.
