You can watch footage of surfers carving up the waves with no comment but if a hapless fisherman goes overboard just beyond the surf line they're lucky to survive their excursion into shark infested waters.

Same type of thing applies to anything that happens with a firearm.

They like to use the terms 'high powered' - one recently where they used this term, it involved a .22 rimfire. The other favorite if something involves a scoped rifle, it is automatically classed as a 'sniper rifle'. Or better yet, the deadly combination of the two... 'a High Powered Sniper Rifle' They are so vicious they jump up and start shooting people all on their own!!

Also, they always call the weapons, which they are not.

I've never seen a firearm, rifle or pistol, that I would describe as anything other than, as a weapon. I'm curious as to what firearms don't fall under this description?

Yes, A RAV4 is a four wheel drive, if it has motive power supplied to all four wheels. The same as the various models of Subaru, Honda Prelude, Audi, etc.

Depends on jurisdiction. NSW says "does not include anything declared by the regulations not to be a firearm". Go figure!

Sako, on your supplied definition, weapon includes firearms as they can be used to attack another person. A firearm is a firearm until it is used against someone else, then it becomes a weapon.

Beach you mentioned earlier that no cop likes to be told their wrong, I think this would go for anyone, not just cops.

What I love about the media is the use of the word 'alleged'. They need to be coached in the use of this. For example; 'a murder allegedly took place at such and such address'. The murder (someone was killed by someone else) actually took place so it's not alleged, when someone is charged and before they are convicted it is then that they allegedly murdered that person. I couldn't agree more with everyone, having had a lot to do with the media previously I do know that they generally live for sensationalism, anything that they perceive the public would like to hear, they will grab it and run, hence 4wd when AWD would be more appropriate, bikie when it should be motorcyclist, etc.

As a former 4wd instructor with the Police, our definition of 4wd for permits was anything fitted with a transfer case, so for a long time Foresters were included but X-Trails and Rav4s weren't.
