  • low range gear lever vibration

Anyone had this problem and fixed it? i could not find it in the annoying rattles section. If i put pressure on the lever while driving on the road i can stop it, but it comes back when i take my hand off it. Any ideas before i take the console apart? 120 series 06 GX.

120 stick vibrates a lot as it goes straight into the box all is normal, just don't hang anything over it as it gets very noisy. ..

I found the label on the top vibrates, when you apply pressure it goes away, I've got a plan to get around to popping it off and re-glueing one day.

I should have described it as a noise, rather than a vibration, but the 2 are linked. It annoys the hell out of me, it is like a buzzing sound, like a blowfly. It stops when i put pressure on the lever, i think it might be transferring the vibration to a plastic panel in the console. I did notice when i bought the car that a tab on the passenger side console plastic was sticking out from the silver trim near the gear levers. I thought an installer of the bluetooth phone hookup had previously left it out but it may have been done by the previous owner to stop the bloody noise. I pushed it back in to neaten it up but i may have restarted the noise that i didnt notice when i 1st got the car.

Just to follow up on the annoying buzzing noise from the low range lever, it has stopped after a wheel and tyre change. The old tyres were badly scalloped according to the mechanic so i would assume the irregular wear pattern was vibrating through the car. The new tyres are Bridgestone 694's on alloy wheels and the car drives well. Now i have squealing brakes as the rotors are heat affected and pitted. But at least i know how to get rid of that awful noise.

And one more update, i took off the silver plastic trim next to the centre console and the previous owner had spilled their bourbon and coke on the console near the gear lever and that had attracted sand and dirt. After cleaning the crap out there is no more annoying vibration.
